Center for Elders' Independence

Center for Elders' Independence PACE senior healthcare plan serving San Francisco East Bay residents. We keep seniors living at home

Center for Elders' Independence (CEI) is a non-profit health plan that's been serving the San Francisco Bay Area for over 30 years, providing the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to seniors age 55 and older who prefer not to move into a nursing home but whose health problems make it impossible for them to stay at home without the help of caregivers. PACE is a nationally recogni

zed model of long-term care that offers a broad range of medical, social, and day health services in home-based and community-based settings. CEI's mission statement is to provide high quality, affordable, integrated health care services to the elderly, which promote autonomy, quality of life, and the ability of individuals to live in their communities. The Fund for Elders' Independence (FEI) is a foundation supporting the work of the Center for Elders' Independence.

Last week, members of the California Commission on Aging got to tour our CEI PACE Temescal center and learn about the successes and challenges we face as a PACE organization serving vulnerable elder populations.

The work we do at our centers every day is possible thanks to the advocacy of those representing our communities in leadership.

Led by CEI's Chaplain Laura, participants from CEI PACE East Oakland and CEI PACE San Leandro gathered outdoors for sessions focused on spiritual care, guided by trees and their symbolic and physical connection to spiritual, emotional, and mental wellness.

Participants loved spending time together and reflecting on their relationship to nature despite differences in religious and spiritual backgrounds.

We had a great time at the Oakland Chinatown 37th StreetFest over the weekend, hosted by the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce屋崙華埠商會. Meeting our community and sharing information about the services CEI provides to help elders live independently is an honor.

Can't wait to see you at future community events throughout the East Bay!

Today we honor the life of Dolly Parton, an incredible artist whose legacy spans far beyond her creative genius. We celebrate her for modeling what it looks like to age with dignity and confidence, reminding us that having impact cannot be limited by age.

Last week we had the honor of hosting guests from the Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging (ACOA) at our center in El Sobrante. Together we toured the center while learning about vital services CEI provides elders, including transportation, meals, medical care, and social activities.

Huge shoutout to CEI Director of Government Affairs, Uche J. Uwahemu, and CEI PACE West County staff members Jessenya Ramirez-Sacasa and Carlos Garcia for making this visit possible.
