🌟 Friends Fund Friday 🌟 Today, we're spotlighting Phare Ponleu Selpak - Battambang (PPSA) as they mark their 30th anniversary! 🙌

🇰🇭 Phare Ponleu Selpak, meaning "the Brightness of the Arts" in Khmer, is transforming the lives of Cambodian youth through art, empowering underprivileged youth to pursue education and artistic dreams. 🎨👩‍🎨

Meet Krud Sovannara, a 17-year-old from a village near Battambang, whose family makes $160 in monthly income from clothes washing and taxi driving. Phare has provided him and his three siblings with free education at the public school on the Phare Ponleu Selpak campus. Due to their challenging circumstances, they also receive free daily lunch and a monthly allowance. 🙏😇

Thanks to Phare's support, Sovannara is excelling in grade 11 at Phare Public School and pursuing theatre at Phare Performing Art School. 🎭 Phare's diverse curriculum covers child rights, communication skills, public speaking, youth club activities, and public awareness. Sovannara is dedicated to his studies and a role model for Phare's next generation. His parents, despite financial constraints, continuously encourage him. 💪✨

“I would like to thank Phare Ponleu Selpak for always caring about me and supporting me,” says KRUD Sovannara. 💙🙌

Join us in celebrating PPSA's incredible impact! To learn more about their programs and upcoming 30th-anniversary fundraising events, including the Sangker River Run this January, visit phareps.org

Escalating hostilities in Gaza have created an urgent humanitarian crisis. The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported that at least 11,078 Palestinians, including 3,900 children and 2,430 women, have been killed, and 27,490 others injured. Additionally, 2,000 individuals, including 1,250 children, are reported missing.

Give2Asia is working with the Egyptian Food Bank (EFB) to support people in Gaza by distributing essential “Ready to Eat” family boxes that include mineral water, milk, cheese, dates, and canned items that are critically urgent. EFB is one of the few organizations with direct access to Gaza through the Rafah border and is working directly with the United Nations Relief Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

Over 2 million people — nearly half of them children — were already in need of urgent medical care in Gaza. Vulnerable people, including children, pregnant women, people with chronic illnesses, and injured people, urgently need critical medical care as a result of ongoing hostilities.

Staff extensively trained by WHO in mass casualty management have already been deployed to care for the sick and injured.

⛈️ Doksuri made landfall in the coastal county of Jinjiang in Fujian province, China, on July 28 at noon local time, with winds reaching 175kph (108mph), causing record-breaking rainfall over five days. Several southeastern provinces in China were heavily affected, including the capital Beijing and the nearby province of Hebei. Heavy rainfall caused rivers to swell, damaging bridges and prompting evacuations. According to the latest reports, over 1.5 million residents (about the population of West Virginia) are affected, with 20 deaths and 200,000 people displaced.

CHINA FOUNDATION FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT (CFRD), one of Give2Asia’s longtime partners, was established in 1989 and is one of the largest and most influential public welfare organizations in the field of rural development in China.
