We are looking for someone who would love to be a mentor and guide. We are looking for someone who can be a really good role model for our clients and has a heart to teach our clients about life skills and how to lead a healthy day to day life!.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Monitor client’s health through coordination with Residential Administrators and schedule medical/dental/therapy appointments accordingly.
• Document requests of healthcare received.
• Maintain preventive health care record for each individual to insure they receive recommended tests and procedures relative to their age, medication and medical history.
• Maintain medical records in compliance with titles 17 & 22; and update emergency annually.
• Ensure clients’ health care needs are in compliance with Titles 17 & 22; and update emergency annually.
• Oversee prescription – ordering system for three residential homes.
• Provide direct support to clients as needed, supplementing residential staff responsibilities
• Inventory and order food and hygiene supplies within budget. Identify discrepancies in what was ordered versus what is on hand to track theft and waste.
• Provide transportation for clients to various appointments and other destinations in personal and Clausen House vehicle.
• Serve as a positive role model for consumers.
• Perform other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for one-on-one training of a developmentally disabled adult.
• Ensure that the individual is presentable and appropriate for work.
• Train employee with new job tasks.
• Assist employee with scheduling and work adjustment.
• Discuss employee’s behavior problems with the Director of Supported Employment and then work with the employee to correct inappropriate behavior.
• Apply work safety guidelines and practices at each job site
• Complete required paperwork for the Department of Rehabilitation and turn in on the last day of each month.
• Complete required paperwork for the Regional Center of the East Bay, in a timely manner.
• Fill in for other staff when they are sick or on vacation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist residents with personal hygiene care, including clipping nails, brushing teeth, washing hair, bathing, dressing and related health and hygiene needs as determined and needed.
• Assist in the supervision of residents in their training and social activities as assigned.
• Review and record progress of each resident and report observations to supervisor.
• Supervise residents to minimize safety hazards at all times.
• Accompany residents outside the home as needed to ensure safety.
• Serve as a positive role model for residents.
• Assist in the implementation of individual program plans.
• Assure that the bedrooms, bathrooms and common living areas are sanitary and clean. (Residents and/or cleaning staff are primarily responsible for cleaning the facilities;
• Residential Personal Attendants may not spend any more than 20% of their working hours in household cleaning or activities other than supervising, monitoring, feeding or caring for residents.)
• Provide transportation when necessary.
• Assist residents with self-administered medications and keep accurate records in accordance with state requirements. Residential Personal Attendants may never give medications to residents and are not to perform regularly any other medical or quasi medical duties such as taking pulses, monitoring blood sugars, taking vital signs, etc. (In cases of emergency, such as where CPR is required, Residential Personal Attendants may take a resident's pulse and engage in any other activity for which they are trained as called for by the emergency.)
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
• Be knowledgeable of Title 17 and Title 22 regulations.
• Work in other Clausen House homes as needed and be willing to work different shifts when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned

- Provide visitors with information and direct them accordingly
- Process, sort, and route incoming and outgoing mail
- Monitor and manage inventory of office supplies; order and distribute office supplies as necessary
- Coordinate and schedule appointments and meetings
- Perform other administrative support tasks, including updating and sorting files, drafting and proofreading correspondences.
- Support other staff with organizational tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, associate's degree preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in an office setting, preferably in an administrative or clerical role
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills and ability to operate general office equipment
- Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid certification
- Willingness to undergo a criminal records clearance, health screening and TB test
- Ability to obtain Department of Justice Criminal Clearance

Today's Throwback Thursday post was taken back in 2005 at the Oakland Ice Center. Our clients learned how to skate on the ice with the help from a modified walker and the wonderful staff.

Our Social Recreation Program that plans and facilitates activities like this is fully funded by Clausen House with no other financial support. If you would like to help keep this program running so that our clients are able to explore the community, consider donating at www.clausenhouse.org!

On April 24, Clausen House's Maurice Rogers held a book reading for his close friends and family. Held outdoors, Maurice read two books, showing off his spectacular reading skills.

Maurice is one of our Adult Education clients. He loves creating art, and has sold art at Clausen House's annual Art Show, as well as performed at our Dinner and A Show.
