Established by ordinance in 1985, the City of Oakland Youth Advisory Commission (OYAC) is made up of 20 diverse young people between the ages of 13-21 who advise civic leaders on key issues affecting youth in Oakland. The Oakland Youth Advisory Commission (OYAC), empowers Oakland youth with leadership training and civic engagement opportunities and provides a platform for young people to enter the public arena and make a contribution to the City of Oakland. OYAC is a diverse and civic-minded group of emerging public servant leaders, aged 13-21, who are appointed by the Mayor and City Council to advise City officials about youth issues and priorities in Oakland.

🎓 Congrulations to two outstanding Oakland Youth Commissioners as they will be taking the next steps in their academic journeys!

Quincy will be attending the University of Washington this fall, majoring in Business and Ethnic Studies, and Nathan will be entering his second year at Berkeley City College as a Biology major.

Through their leadership and commitment to the commission for the past 4 years, Quincy and Nathan have had a lasting impact on our community. We are proud of all they have accomplished and excited to see what they will accomplish next!
