Dear Oakland Residents,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and support throughout the current water project, as well as for your cooperation with water restrictions over the past several years.

We are very close to transitioning to our new water system; however, we are still relying on the existing system for the time being. Because the new system is nearly ready to come online, the City Council chose not to implement water restrictions this year.

With the recent stretch of warm weather, our daily water usage has increased significantly and is approaching the capacity of our current system.

To help us bridge the gap until the new system is operational, I am respectfully asking residents to voluntarily reduce their water usage for the next three to four weeks. Your cooperation during this short period would be greatly appreciated and would help us tremendously.

This is simply a voluntary request as we work to get the city across the finish line with this important project. I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your continued support, understanding, and efforts.

I look forward to the day when the new system is fully online and we can provide the best possible water service to our community.

Thank you again, and please stay safe.
