Yesterday, our officers received a call of an injured pelican on northbound I-880 just north of 66th Avenue. 🛣️🦤

It’s unclear how the bird was hurt, but thanks to quick action of the public for calling and the responding officer, it was safely secured and transported to , an organization dedicated to rescuing waterbirds.

A big thank you to International Bird Rescue for their partnership and commitment to healing and releasing injured wildlife. 💙

The driver was subsequently booked into Santa Rita County Jail for multiple charges related to driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a loaded firearm.
