PARENT UPDATE, MAY 11-22, 2026
Dear Lincoln families,
Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and their children. Thank you parents and guardians for supporting our teacher and staff appreciation luncheon and open house last week. Our students are making excellent academic and social growth through the efforts of our amazing teachers and staff and thanks to your encouragement and ongoing participation in school events and activities. Thank you for your partnership. Throughout the month of May, we recognize our teachers and staff, we celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and we encourage our students to practice kindness and empathy.
Our 3rd graders in Ms. Hung- Haas’s and Ms. Kusper’s classes received Gamelan training from Gamelen artists at Berkeley’s Gamelan Sekar Jaya. On May 8th, our 3rd graders put on a Gamelan performance during the school day, attended by their parents and by students and teachers in other classes. Many thanks to Ms. Hung- Haas for maintaining a partnership with Gamelan Sekar Jaya in Berkeley, which makes this learning experience possible for our students.
On Saturday, May 16, our PTO- Golden Dragon Project is putting on our annual spring fair featuring a student concert, face painting, swag item sales, refreshments and learning games and for families. Our hope is to bring learning games to all parent engagement events so our students continue to learn a lot and have a lot of fun.

REMINDERS
Red shirts and closed toe athletic shoes:
-Please note that Lincoln red shirts or plain red shirts and closed toe, athletic shoes are our school uniform and are a safety expectation at our school.
-We understand that our students outgrow school shirts rapidly. On Wednesday and Friday mornings, we have a parent leader running a shirt exchange program. The parent leader is giving away clean, pre- used red shirts for students and parents who want them.
Independent Study procedure for families traveling during non school holidays:
-Independent studies at the end of the school year cannot be supported because student work completed during the independent study period has to be returned to school, graded and accounted toward the last report card period before the last day of school, in order for the Independent Study plan to count.
-If you are planning to travel this summer, please choose dates after the last day of school, which is May 28th.
Lincoln is a walk- up school- please do not double park on 10th or 11 street:
-Please be safe at drop off and pick up. Lincoln is a walk- up school.
-If you are driving, please park your car and walk your students in and out of our campus. Please do not double park.
-The Alameda county sheriff’s office has been issuing tickets to double parked drivers.
Early pick- up procedure:
-With student safety in mind, we are asking that parents wanting to take students to appointments, must come into the main office, identify themselves to office staff, and then sign students out.
-After the appointment, parents must sign students back in.
-Please make sure that you plan ahead. Please do not double park and run in to pick up your student.
With collaboration, acceptance, respect and empathy,
Principal Sambrani
