New orders from the Alameda County Offices Public Health Department go into effect today.

Childcare and extracurricular activities are now open for all children, not just children of essential workers. In addition, libraries are allowed to provide curbside pick-up of books and other media.

These new orders also permit for "Social Bubbles." Social Bubbles are small groups (12 or fewer people) from different households and can participate in small outdoor gatherings. Participation in a Social Bubble should be limited to one bubble at a time, follow social distancing practices (maintaining a minimum of 6 ft. distance), and wear face coverings. For more information on Social Bubbles, please see the press release below:

New Health Officer Orders effective June 8 allow for “Social Bubbles,” childcare and extracurricular activities for all children, and other businesses to resume including pet grooming. Face coverings must be worn at all times, including when active outdoors. Accompanying reopening plan outlines next phases of relaxations. If you have questions about the orders, please contact our Public Heath Department by email [email protected] or call (510) 268-2101.

Diabetes and high blood pressure are two of the underlying health conditions that put people at a higher risk of suffering complications due to COVID-19.

During the Shelter in Place orders, it may be difficult to for people with diabetes and/or high blood pressure to access the healthy foods they need to mange these conditions. These nutrition guides from the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations provide tips on how to stock up on healthy foods and maintain a healthy diet during this health crisis.

If you live in #AlamedaCounty and need access to food during the Shelter in Place, please contact the Alameda County Community Food Bank for assistance.

We are all in this together. Help protect our high-risk neighbors by following safe hygiene and physical distancing guidelines. The best way to stay healthy is to stay home.

For food insecure students, schools are often the most reliable source for meals. While #AlamedaCounty's school districts have suspended in-person instruction, many districts are offering emergency meals to students in need.

While the County of Alameda, CA - Government has joined with other #BayArea counties in issuing a Shelter in Place order effective midnight on March 17 (http://www.acphd.org/2019-ncov.aspx), emergency food and other essential services are allowed to keep operating.

Many low-income families are unable to access affordable, healthy food on a regular basis, which can be detrimental to their overall health. When people have regular, affordable access to healthy foods, they are less likely to develop diet-related chronic diseases, have impaired social development, and are more likely to succeed and attend school.

Our #FoodasMedicine pilot projects have shown success in using healthy food prescriptions and cooking demonstrations as an intervention tool for diet-related illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure. The #DigDeepFoodHub provides fresh produce to county-led health clinics to help low-income patients fill their food prescriptions & increase their ability to access healthy food regularly. #ALLINAlamedaCounty #ALLINforFoodSecurity

Every day, we throw away tons of healthy, edible, uneaten food. Yet 12% of residents in #AlamedaCounty struggle to put healthy food on the table consistently. In partnership with #alamedacountyprobation and All in Alameda County, the Dig Deep Farms Food Hub employs formerly incarcerated people to divert more than 300,000 pounds of edible food from going to waste every year, repackage the food, and deliver it to affordable housing locations throughout the county. #ALLINforFoodSecurity #ALLINAlamedaCounty #DigDeepFoodHub

We are excited to partner with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, Alameda County DSAL, and Dig Deep Farms and Produce for the grand opening of the Dig Deep Farms Food Hub in Ashland!

The Food Hub supports the development of a local food economy and improves #PublicHealth, public safety, and quality of life for residents. This exciting new community-based facility will help get healthy food, education, and employment opportunities to Alameda County’s food-insecure residents.

The Food Hub’s programs will have a broad reach in the community, serving budding food entrepreneurs with business supports, individuals reentering society after jail with employment and wraparound services, and providing low-income patients with access to healthy foods. #DigDeepFoodHub #ALLINAlamedaCounty #ALLINforFoodSecurity

Why this Bay Area county is betting big on ‘food pharmacies’

Access to healthy food helps improve a patient's health outcomes, especially with nutrition related diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. Yet, many Alameda County residents face food insecurity and don't know where their next meal is coming from.

At ALL IN, we are working to change this by providing access to healthy food through "food pharmacies" at places like La Clínica de La Raza throughout the county. Using prescriptions from doctors, patients are able to incorporate more healthy produce into their diets & improve their health outcomes.

We are excited to share we have expanded our work to include five pharmacies throughout the county: Hayward Wellness, Native American Health Center, West Oakland Health Center, Roots Community Health Center, and La Clinica.

Oakland school demands safer intersection after hit-and-run

We are deeply saddened by the tragic hit-and-run at Garfield Elementary last week and want to thank EBAYC and the Garfield community for organizing last Friday's rally for increased traffic safety along Foothill Blvd. All children deserve safe routes to school and should not have to cross busy and dangerous intersections to access education. ALL IN is committed to continuing our work with the Garfield community to ensure all children have safe place to learn.

Yesterday, Hannah Moore from ALL IN and Aliyah Bey from @mandelapartners were invited to speak to 9th graders in the Health Careers Pathway at @life_academy_oakland!

Hannah and Aliyah spoke about the work they are doing in Fruitvale and San Antonio, raised questions about what it means to be healthy (mind, body and spirit) and why it’s so hard to do sometimes, the connection between the earth, what comes from it and what we put in our bodies and more! Aliyah made and shared a delicious in season kale and strawberry salad for the students. Not all of them tried it but the majority did, and they asked for the recipe. One of the student’s reactions to the salad was, “The Salad is fire!”
