To help prevent wildfires, fire restrictions will go into effect Monday, July 20 on the Willamette National Forest, including wilderness areas.

All campfires, charcoal or briquette fires, pellet fires, and any other open fires are prohibited outside of designated recreation sites or campgrounds. Portable cooking stoves, portable gas campfires, and lanterns using gas, jellied petroleum, pressurized liquid fuel or propane with an on/off switch are allowed in areas cleared of flammable vegetation.

Campfires are still allowed inside fire rings at most developed campgrounds and other designated recreation sites.

Smoking is also prohibited, except within a building or vehicle, developed recreation site, on the water, or in an area cleared of flammable vegetation.

WANT TO RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL?

The City of Oakridge will have 4 positions up for election during the November General Election: One 4-year Mayor position, and three 4-year City Council positions.

Oakridge voters elect these positions at-large, meaning candidates can live in any area within City limits (for at least 12 months). Once elected, they represent all Oakridge constituents.

The City of Oakridge requires you to file your candidacy by petition or by declaration.

To file by Petition, candidates are required to collect a minimum of fourteen (14) signatures from registered voters who live inside the city limits of Oakridge. Candidates are encouraged to get 20+ signatures in case of any of them are found to be invalid. There is no fee imposed with this filing.

To file by Declaration, candidates are required to pay a $50 filing fee in lieu of collecting signatures (no signature gathering required).

Applications must be submitted to the Elections Officer/City Recorder’s office at City Hall no later than August 11, 2026 at 4pm for elected incumbents and August 18, 2026 at 4pm for non-incumbents, in order to have them verified by the County and in case you need to obtain more signatures. The Elections Officer/City Recorder will then take them to the Lane County Elections Office for verification.

After the signatures are verified, the Elections Officer/ City Recorder will pick them up along with the results and contact the candidate with the results.

Any person elected to office must have been a legal resident of the city of Oakridge continuously during the 12 months immediately preceding the election.

All candidates must pick-up a "Candidates Packet" available at City Hall Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm, or online at:

This is an update from the City of Oakridge regarding the Sanitary Sewer Overflow on 6/3/26 which prompted the City to declare an emergency related to this incident.



New information:

The sewer leak was located north of Highway 58, between the Orchid Clinic and the A&W/Subway building. A large clog in the sewer line forced untreated sewage into an old overflow bypass that led to the storm water system. This clog was released and sewage is now flowing normally through the pipe. This overflow bypass is a legacy feature from generations (decades) ago and is no longer needed. It was removed and concrete caps were put in place to seal the sewer pipe in that area to make sure this can’t happen again. The City will conduct daily E. coli testing upstream and downstream of the storm water outfall at the end of Fairy Glen Drive until testing shows normal levels. Please continue to respect the marked closure signs along the river near the outfall area. On the evening of 6/3/26, the Oakridge City Council approved a declaration of emergency yesterday that can help the City access additional support and resources during the repair process.



What about water?

City drinking water was not affected and is safe to use. Now that we know the location and cause of the leak, we can confirm no wells were affected by the leak.



What can we do to avoid this in the future?

Aging infrastructure naturally comes with challenges, but it will help if we all avoid flushing wipes (even if the package claims they are flushable), feminine products or other items not intended to be flushed. The only thing that should go down your toilet are the Three Ps: p*e, p**p and toilet paper.
