🔥🚒Tonight, six of our firefighters headed out for their first night of Firefighter 1 Academy!

Firefighters: Blake, Josh, Alexzander, Mikhail, Katrina & Quinton.

We couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them for their drive, commitment, and dedication to our department — and most importantly, to serving and protecting our community.

Their willingness to put in the time, training, and hard work to better themselves and our department is truly something to be proud of.

Please join us in wishing them the best of luck as they continue through their training during the coming months!

We know they’re going to do great and return with the knowledge to help in keeping our community safe! 💪🚒

🔥 Mobe Update Little Giant Fire 🔥

Our own member Katrina continues to work tirelessly alongside many other crews on the little giant fire, which has now grown to approximately 111,429 acres, and remains at just 2% containment.

Katrina along with members of Montesano, has been assigned to work directly on protecting homes and other structures within the fire line area. While their work may not always be visible as active fire suppression, structure preparation is a critical part of protecting communities when wildfire, threatens homes and neighborhoods.

We couldn’t be more proud of Katrina as she continues to represent Grays Harbor Fire District 1 in our community, working side-by-side with crews across the state.

To Katrina and everyone working in this fire: stay safe, and know how incredibly proud and grateful we are for all that you are doing!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and joined us last night for National Night Out!

It was wonderful to see so many members of our community come together for an evening of fun, fellowship, and connection. Events like these remind us how fortunate we are to serve such a supportive and caring community.

We truly appreciate everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we look forward to seeing you at future community events!

We are about to experience a great deal of wildfire smoke move towards us the coming days. Starting tomorrow we will really see it come in.

Please only call 911 if you actually see a fire happening. Stay hydrated and stay indoors if you have breathing issues. Try and limit AC use, it will suck in your house and make breathing more difficult especially for those with breathing problems.

8/2/26 - So about that smoke forecast tomorrow...things have up-trended quite sharply in this afternoon's run of the HRRR smoke model. The following simulation is for 4 PM tomorrow (Monday). Those oranges, reds, and purples indicate very dense surface-level smoke. Air quality is likely to dip into the unhealthy category for much of the west side. Tuesday will be another story. Air quality could dip farther into the "very unhealthy" or "hazardous" categories where PM2.5 values exceed 250. If you have to work outside, I would **highly** recommend an N95 mask, or any sort of wet rag to help filter out particulates. If you're indoors, use HEPA filters for any outside openings.
