We have some EXCITING news!

Like, dancing-around-the-house-like-nobody-is-watching kind of exciting news. 💃🐾

We got picked in the drawing to be the NEXT rescue featured by Crafters Helping Animals for one of their incredible fundraising auctions!!!

And if you don’t know why we are absolutely freaking out over this… then you are seriously missing out.

Crafters Helping Animals is “a group of animal lovers that come together to have fundraisers that benefit the animals in rescues and sanctuaries in the US. We host auctions on a regular basis supporting those that save animals.”

But these are not little auctions. These auctions raise AMAZING money for rescues. In fact, they are on track to surpass $250,000 donated to rescues during THIS current auction cycle alone! 🤯🐾
And now… Timber Tails K9 Rescue gets to be part of that.
Even better? Don’t let the name fool you — you do NOT have to be a crafter to participate.

Yes, they would absolutely love to have more crafters join in, not only to support us, but to continue supporting animal rescues all across the country. But businesses, supporters, community members, and animal lovers can ALL participate too!
We are asking our amazing community to jump on this fun bandwagon with us and help make this auction incredible.

✨ Items donated for auction must be NEW.
✨ Businesses can donate items, gift baskets, products, services, or themed packages.
✨ Since we are a registered 501(c)(3), and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the rescue, donation receipts are available upon request.

And here’s the other important part: you do NOT have to donate an item to participate!

We also need people who love shopping for cool, unique, handmade, creative, and one-of-a-kind items. Seriously, these auctions are FUN. There is always something amazing to bid on, and every purchase helps support rescue animals. ❤️

This is such an incredible opportunity for us to raise funds to continue helping the local dogs who need us most.

So come join the fun. Donate if you can. Bid if you can. Share if you can. And then STAY to keep helping rescues and sanctuaries all across the nation. ❤️🐶

Want to participate? Just let us know in the comments and we will start inviting all you incredible people that want to support the people that make a difference in the lives of animals.

The annual microchip fiasco post.

So, I was contacted today with a question, which reminded me that I couldn’t put off this post any longer.

Here at Timber Tails K9 Rescue, we truly believe in serving our community where they are at. Meeting the needs of the dogs that are part of our homes, hearts, and neighborhoods.

The reality is: we do not like having to pull dogs from shelters. We wish every dog already had a safe home, and that every lost dog could quickly get back home when they become separated from their family. One of the most effective ways to make that happen is through accessible microchip clinics.

Every year, however, there are individuals who attempt to put an end to what we do by citing a particular WAC. So let us be very clear.

That WAC applies to licensed veterinary facilities operating under the Department of Health. Rescues do not fall under that category.

Second, we do not claim to be licensed veterinarians or veterinary technicians. What we ARE is a group of highly experienced volunteers who have inserted hundreds upon hundreds of microchips safely over time.

Additionally, while there is very little formal tracking of microchip safety data in the United States, the British Small Animal Veterinary Association created a Microchip Advisory Group that tracked approximately 4 million microchips between 1996 and 2023. Their data showed adverse reactions in only approximately 0.009% of cases.

Yes, we use signed releases.
Yes, we will continue offering these services because there is a massive need in our community.
And yes, we have even contacted the Department of Agriculture — the agency most likely to oversee rescue operations — and they have expressed full support for what we do.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: keep dogs safe, keep dogs out of shelters, and help lost pets get back home faster.

If you would genuinely like to have a respectful conversation, ask questions, or learn more about how we operate, we are always open to discussion.

If you feel safer getting your pet microchipped at your vet, we absolutely encourage you to pay your vet for that visit and chip.

But we will not apologize for working hard to provide accessible resources that help keep beloved family pets where they belong: at home.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who never made it home. Their sacrifice gave us the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we are forever grateful.

At Timber Tails K9 Rescue, we also want to recognize the military working dogs who served beside them. Loyal partners. Protectors. Heroes. Many of these dogs faced danger fearlessly, standing shoulder to shoulder with their handlers in places most of us will never know. Some, too, never came home.

Today we remember them all — the fallen soldiers, the unseen heroes, and the four-legged warriors who served with unwavering courage and loyalty.

As we spend time with family, friends, and our beloved pets today, may we never forget the price paid for that freedom.

To all who served, and especially to those who gave everything: we remember you. ❤️🇺🇸🐾

It's microchip season! And we need your support. 🐾

When the sunshine comes out, so do the adventures, adoption events, and FREE community microchipping clinics!

With summer travel, camping trips, and celebrations like the 4th of July right around the corner, now is the perfect reminder of how important it is to microchip your furry family members. Fireworks and busy summer activities can cause even the best pets to become scared and lost. A microchip can help bring them safely back home.

As a rescue, we would MUCH rather help lost pets reunite with their families than have them end up needing rehoming because they couldn’t find their way home. Microchips truly save lives and reunite families.

To make these free community events possible, we are stocking up on microchips from our Amazon cart (link in the comments), and we would love your support! This year, our goal is to provide FREE microchips for over 100 pets in our community. Every donation helps us reach another family and another pet protected.

And now for even more exciting news! 🎉

We are incredibly grateful to be partnering with FURgent Care Unit to help provide these services. With over 20 combined years of veterinary assisting experience, they created their business to help dogs that are often turned away elsewhere. Now, they’ll be bringing those skills to assist Timber Tails K9 Rescue with microchip placement and additional services like nail trims at our community events.

Together, we can help keep pets safe, protected, and HOME where they belong. ❤️

We already have 4 events on the schedule starting with May 30th. Let's make sure that we can get those pets chipped!

🧬 DNA pending! 🐾

We love Nala and her shopping habits! She heard she had a little brother coming… and she also heard everyone thinks they might actually be blood siblings. Well, Nala just HAD to know. 😂

So naturally, she hopped on Amazon and ordered up a DNA test to find out what her new little brother is made of!

This handsome guy is one of the litter of 11 that came out of Aberdeen, and now the guessing game begins…

What do YOU think he and his siblings are? 👀

Here are a few clues:
🐶 These pups are on the smaller side
🐶 We don’t expect them to be over about 45 lbs full grown
🐶 They are about 1/3 the size of the Capitol litter puppies (German Shepherd/Pit/Husky mixes) even though they are only about ONE week younger!

So let’s hear those guesses! ⬇️
What breeds do you see in this little guy? 🧡

Pics of siblings in the comments.

PS: We still have 4 of these cute boys available for adoption!!!

National Rescue Dog Day 🐾

Today, we celebrate rescue dogs.

We celebrate every dog that comes into our care. Every dog that was once abandoned, left behind, forgotten, or unwanted — yet still full of love and deserving of a second chance.

Because of rescue, these dogs get a new beginning. A safe place to land. A loving foster. A forever family. A life where they are finally cherished the way they always should have been.

Today is also a celebration of the people behind the scenes who make those second chances possible — our fosters, adopters, volunteers, transporters, veterinary partners, donors, and supporters. It truly takes a village to save lives.

To every rescue dog who learned to trust again, to every family who opened their heart and home, and to every person helping change these dogs’ futures: today we celebrate YOU.

Thank you for believing that every dog deserves a second chance. ❤️🐶

Let's celebrate with pictures of your rescue dog!! Fill up the comments with pictures so we can all celebrate second chances and the love that these amazing dogs share with us.

WOOHOO!

Check out our amazing girl! She is finally healthy and will get her final clearance from the vet on Wednesday to go to her furever family. They have been waiting as anxiously as us.
They named her Faith, and she is living up to that name.

Thank you again to our foster that has put in so much energy helping this little miracle get better.

And thank you to all if our supporters who pitched in and gave this girl a new life.

These are the moments we hold on to dearly in rescue. Because they don't all turn out this amazing.

Check out these handsome hunks! These are the last 3 dogs that we delivered to the Freedom Tails program. And we actually got pictures of them from the staff! We love it!

All 3 boys came from Aberdeen WA Animal Control and are now getting a chance to decompress, and build trust and skills with their handlers.

Beau: brindle pit mix - sitting so nicely with the beautiful flowers in the background.
Onyx: Black Shepherd mix. Our middle aged man that has been through so much, but still has so much personality.
Rex: Doberman mix (we think), and a little wild man. But don't worry, he is learning his manners in prison.

They will all be listed as adoptable on the website soon!

Just now taking a breath and catching up, so here is the first half of the weekend roundup:

✨ GGHI Banquet
This was so much fun! While we did not win Non-Profit of the Year, we are incredibly honored just to have been nominated. We were up against amazing, well-established, large non-profits, and being included alongside them is an achievement in itself. Huge congratulations to the YMCA of Grays Harbor for their well-deserved win and all they do for our community!

One honor at the banquet was the sponsors and partners that paid for the table and joined us well. They showed up in support Friday night, just like they show up and support us and this community every day.

BUT... we DID win the coveted “Best Dressed Table” award! That is entirely thanks to the amazing April, who brought her passion, creativity, skills, and SPARKLE to the table decor. So many people came by to compliment it. We are so lucky to have such talented supporters behind us. We will return next year to continue joining in supporting Grays Harbor (and fight to keep our title for best decorations!).

🐾 Taholah
The day started bright and early with a trip to Taholah to meet 2 dogs we are bringing into our care before they head to Freedom Tails.

💉 Last Sprouts
Next up — after another tedious administrative stop — was vaccinating 11 puppies entering our Last Sprouts program. These little nuggets are absolutely adorable! Even better, both parents from this litter are also being fixed.

🚐 Freedom Tails
As if that wasn’t enough for one day, we also had 2 Freedom Tails dogs heading off to their adoptive homes, plus 2 more meet-and-greets happening.

⛳ Lion’s Club Charity Golf Event
Last but not least, we had a team of golfers out at the Lion’s Club charity golf event representing Timber Tails! Thanks to a generous donation of the team spot, these guys got to spend the day chasing little balls around in the rain. They were definitely “RUFF-ing it” on the green for TTK9 today!

Three speed-walk miles later… I was DONE for the day.

And THAT, folks, is only HALF of our weekend. Never a dull moment around here.
