Oakwood Fire would like to recognize Oakwood High School Senior Alex Silha (Gray Shirt) on his senior night. Alex has been a great asset to our department. During his time, Alex has completed his EMR certification and is a very committed member. Congratulations Alex!

Please use caution when traveling, seek alternate route. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER. We enjoyed meeting all of you last night for ice cream, but we do not want to see you all again because your car is now a boat.

I-74 is CLOSED between Fithian and the Kickapoo Exit at Danville (US 150) due to flooding in the Fithian area. Traffic will use Route 150 to go around the detour.

We would like to thank everyone that came out today to support us. It was so great meeting all of you, and showing everyone around our vehicles and equipment. We’d like to extend a very special thank you to Obie's Arctic Chill for graciously allowing us to be here and contributing proceeds to our department. Without their support, this would not have been possible. We would also like to thank State Representative Brandun Schweizer and John Thompson for Vermilion County Sheriff for stopping by and showing support! We greatly appreciate all the donations and they will all be put to good use for our department.

Oakwood Fire is greatly looking forward to our ice cream fundraiser tomorrow. This gives our community an opportunity to meet local firefighters, tour the equipment and vehicles we use. And on top of all that, you can enjoy some delicious ice cream from our friends at Obies and help your local fire department at the same time. Please consider stopping by between 4pm-7pm!

Oakwood Fire personnel spent the evening entering run reports into our logging system. Lots of work goes on behind the scenes that people may not realize, and this is one of the many things we do to keep our department up to date. Our members are dedicated to continuing to serve our community.

Every other month, members receive EMS training by Carle Regional EMS. Tonight we received training on patient assessments. Did you know Oakwood Fire has 9 members that hold an EMS license at various levels? We’re always looking to improve how we serve our citizens!
