Finding shelter or employment is only one part of the journey for our Workforce Development clients & Dignity House guests. The Wear Gloves case management team works hard every day to identify the needs of each person that comes to us for help.

Our case management team works one-on-one with each client to get their lives back on track. The work is often challenging, but the reward of helping others break the cycle of dependency is more than worth it. 🤝

World Food Day is upon us and what better time to highlight the Dignity House pantry. This room was made possible by the generous support of our late friend Bert and bears his name.

At the Dignity House we do more than feed the guests participating in our transitional housing program; we empower them to grow beyond dependency. By attending regular cooking classes and sharing the task of cooking meals for the other DH guests, they learn valuable life skills and build a shared community.

We are so proud to celebrate our case manager Kari. Today she achieved 5 years of sobriety! Kari would be the first person to tell you that recovery is a struggle, but it is something that we can all achieve. She comes to work every day with this truth in her heart so that she can share her strength with us all. She supports the recovery of every one of our clients who struggle.

Kari is an amazing team player, and we are so blessed to have her working hard to support the Wear Gloves mission of empowering the underserved with dignity not dependency.

🎃 Carving pumpkins is not only a time-honored tradition, but a great art therapy activity! Last year our Dignity House family shared many smiles, and created memories of community and joy while carving pumpkins. Art therapy activities like pumpkin carving go a long way in developing positive attitudes and community focus.

With Halloween just around the corner we are currently accepting Pumpkin donations so that our Dignity House guests can join in on the shared traditional fun.

Homelessness affects millions of people worldwide. Today, on World Homeless Day, Wear Gloves invites you to take action and consider how you can help address an issue that impacts people in every community. 🫶

Homelessness rarely has a single cause, and housing alone doesn’t address every barrier a person may face when working toward long-term stability.

At the Wear Gloves Dignity House, we provide wraparound services to help guests overcome those barriers and work toward permanent housing. Our Workforce Development Program offers opportunities to earn income while gaining valuable work experience. We provide access to licensed mental health counseling, peer support, skill-building classes, and workshops. Our case management team works alongside guests to set goals, connect with resources, and take practical steps toward a more stable future.

At Wear Gloves, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity and tools to break the cycles of homelessness and dependency and build a future with dignity. 💪

A big thank-you to the ladies from Joy Lutheran for bringing delicious food and seasonal joy to Wear Gloves! 🎃

Sharing meals is one of the ways we build relationships at Wear Gloves. Whenever possible, we provide lunch during the week, giving our Workforce Development participants, Dignity House guests, and staff a chance to sit down and enjoy a meal together.

Every Friday, we also hold family meetings where we celebrate milestones like soberversaries, new careers, and birthdays, share words of encouragement, and recognize each other’s progress. These gatherings remind us that we’re not in this alone. 🤝

Many of you have heard about the Wear Gloves Beautification Teams, but did you know that it’s more than just a job opportunity? Wear Gloves partners with the City of Ocala to help keep our city beautiful by picking up litter in our parks and clearing our drains to prevent flooding.

Our Workforce Development Program offers this meaningful employment opportunity to our clients, while also providing wrap-around case management services. We provide licensed mental health counseling to our clients, on-site peer-support recovery groups, and our case management team works with them to build plans for their lives beyond Wear Gloves.

With these services, our clients are equipped to succeed with dignity not dependency.✊
