We have a great volunteer opportunity for you!!! We're in need of volunteers to assist us on Monday, July 17 from 9:00 - 1:00 during our annual "Cops, Kids & Firefighters" day being held at Webb football field on West State Road 40. Volunteers will assist us with games for the kids (some of them include water so you might get wet!!). Lunch will be provided. Sign up to serve your community and have FUN while you're doing it! Our volunteers help make our programs successful and we are extremely grateful for them. Discovery Center volunteer, Naomi, is shown misting the turtles in the "Turtle Tower". Naomi volunteered with us last summer and had such a great time she couldn't wait to return this summer!

HARVEST FEST IS SATURDAY NOV. 12: Blues Traveler, Ron Pope, Evan Taylor Jones, Jamie Davis, The Applebutter Express, Larkin Poe, Great Peacock, Travis Knight, Slings, Bobby Lee Rogers Band and The Trip. Looking for volunteers to help out at Harvest Fest on November 12 in our beverage tents and ticketing area. Volunteer shifts are from 12:30 - 5:00 or from 4:30 - 9:30. SportsAbility, the premier event of the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association (FDOA), enhances the lives of people of all abilities by promoting active living. SportsAbility provides first-hand access to recreation and active leisure, resources and demonstrations.
The program is designed to encourage participation regardless of age or ability level. We're looking for volunteers to assist with registration, arts & crafts, and recreation programs (kayaking, horseshoes, horseback riding, archery, disc golf and more) on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1. Our dedicated volunteers Elouise Pruitt, Rebecca Webb and Annie Colston spend time each week tending to the vegetable garden at the Barbara G. Washington Adult Activity Center. We are so grateful these ladies spend their time with us!!

Saturday's Evergreen Cemetery Volunteer Cleanup was another successful partnering event between the Friends of the Historical Evergreen Cemetery, Sons of Confederate Veterans Pvt. William R. Milton Camp 741, United Daughters of the Confederacy Marion Dragoons Chapter 2311 and the City of Ocala Public Works Department. A dozen volunteers showed their sense of community pride and caring and were able to rake leaves, pick up fallen Spanish moss and tree limbs, clean approximately half dozen headstones and straighten and level another two headstones before Saturday’s rains moved in and cut our effort short. Thanks to Cummins Southeastern Power Inc., who sent three volunteers, and the other volunteers for a job well done. Both Evergreen and Evergreen Extension Cemeteries look great thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers.

Sunday, Feb. 7, a group of volunteers from Church of Hope partnered with Ron Lirot from the City of Ocala Public Works Department Streets Division to clean Tucker Hill Cemetery. Volunteers showed their sense of community pride by raking leaves and picking up fallen tree limbs. Thank you to everyone for a job well done!

Thank you to those who volunteered on Saturday!

We had another successful Evergreen Cemetery Cleanup Saturday, Jan. 23. Despite the cold weather, nine volunteers showed up and helped rake leaves, pick up fallen Spanish moss and tree limbs and also cleaned headstones. Evergreen and Evergreen Extension Cemeteries are looking great thanks to their hard work. Great job everyone!
