This evening the members of the Ocean Gate Volunteer Fire Department took in training on new battery operated extrication equipment from Blaze Emergency Equipment. This new equipment is a more modern replacement of outdated and discontinued tools we already had in use. We thank Mayor Curtin, Council President Jim McGrath and the rest of the Borough Council for providing us with this purchase through grant money to better serve the residents of the community.

Keeping hydrants and house exhaust vents clear of snow drifts and build-up during the upcoming snow storm is very important for the safety of our residents. Please make sure to clear snow for all household exhaust vents, as not doing so can cause Carbon Monoxide to return back into your residence. Stay safe, stay warm, and we are here if you need us.

At approximately 5pm on April 20th, the Ocean Gate Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 0 Block of East Longport Avenue. The single story residence was fully involved with fire upon arrival. Members of the department, along with our mutual aid companies of Bayville Fire Department, Pine Beach Fire Department, and Forked River Fire Department coordinated to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries to residents or members during the course of the incident.

Sadly, the residents of the home lost everything they owned. They are in need of as much help as possible and a public fundraising account has been set up to assist them during the tough time ahead. Please help as much as possible, if possible.

A Go Fund me has been established for the family who lost their home tonight due to a very serious fire in Ocean Gate, If you can't afford to help please Share at the very least
