Please join us in welcoming two new members to The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department! 🚔🌊

OIBPD is thrilled to welcome Officer Chase Costa and Officer Charles Jost!

Chase joins us from West Virginia, bringing 13 years of law enforcement experience to Ocean Isle Beach. He recently moved to the coast with his wife and two children. We’re excited to have his experience and dedication as part of our department!

Charles joins us from the Charlotte/Lake Norman area. A Tar Heel alum married to his college sweetheart, an NC State alum, Charles and his wife share a son and a love for the Ocean Isle Beach area. After retiring as a business owner, Charles decided to pursue his longtime interest in law enforcement and attended BLET, where he recently graduated.

As Charles would say, “I still have some gas left in the tank!” 🚔

We are excited to have both of these gentlemen join The OIBPD family and look forward to all they will bring to our department and community.

The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department is attempting to identify the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday, August 15th, at approximately 5:23 a.m. at the Minute Man Gas Station, located at 118 Causeway Drive.

Another successful animal rescue this month👏👏

Today, we received a call about a fawn struggling to swim in the canal off of Concord Street and unable to get back to shore. Thanks to the quick response and teamwork of Officer Calloway, Officer Lambeth, and the Fire Department, this little friend was safely rescued and returned to land.

For everyone's safety, a Red Flag Warning is in effect at Ocean Isle Beach, indicating dangerous surf and strong rip current conditions. Life-threatening rip currents are likely, and entering the water is strongly discouraged.
Beach Safety Reminders:
🌊 Stay out of the water when red flags are flying.
🌊 Never swim alone.
🌊 Keep children well away from the surf.
🌊 Follow all posted beach warnings and instructions from emergency personnel.
🌊 If you see someone in trouble, call 911 immediately

Birds are our friends too! 🐦💙

Yesterday, Officer Wilson helped rescue an injured bird in the Intracoastal Waterway at Dockside Landing off Beaufort Street. With the assistance of local bird rescuer Mark Hardcastle (Ranger), the bird was safely captured and transported to Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter for treatment and rehabilitation.

A big thank you to Officer Wilson and Ranger in helping protect the wildlife that makes Ocean Isle Beach such a special place!

🎆 Celebrate Safely This Independence Day Weekend 🇺🇸

As you enjoy the Fourth of July holiday, the Town of Ocean Isle Beach reminds residents and visitors that fireworks are PROHIBITED within the Town limits. The use and/or possession of fireworks may result in criminal charges and fines.

‼️This year's reminder is especially important because our area is experiencing SEVERE DROUGHT CONDITIONS🔥, leaving vegetation, dunes, and other natural areas extremely dry. Even a single firework can ignite a fast-moving fire, threatening homes, businesses, protected dunes, wildlife, and the first responders who work to protect our community. 💦We are also under a Stage 2 Water Conservation Alert and may face limited resources for fire response efforts.

🔥Across coastal communities, fireworks have caused destructive fires, demonstrating how quickly a holiday celebration can become an emergency when conditions are dry.

🎇The safest way to celebrate is by attending a professional fireworks display and leaving the fireworks to trained experts. By doing so, you help reduce the risk of fires, injuries, and property damage while protecting our beautiful beach community.

🚔🇺🇸The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department is gearing up for Americas 250th Birthday! As you enjoy your time on the island, we ask that you please keep the following state laws and local ordinances in mind for your safety and the safety of others:

🎆 Fireworks – Fireworks are strictly prohibited on Ocean Isle Beach. The use and/or possession of fireworks may result in criminal charges and fines.

🚗 Driving While Impaired / Boating While Impaired – Impaired driving and boating puts everyone at risk and may result in criminal charges. Please plan ahead and designate a sober driver.

🚸 Eyes on the Road – Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to stay alert, especially in the business district along Causeway Drive. Please use designated crosswalks, and drivers, slow down and watch for pedestrians.

🛺LSVs (Golf Carts) – Low-speed vehicles (LSVs) must be properly registered with the DMV and display a license plate. Operators must possess a valid driver’s license, and LSVs may only be operated on roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.

🔒 Seat Belts & Child Safety Seats – Seat belt laws are strictly enforced for all vehicles and LSVs. Children must be properly secured in an age- and weight-appropriate child safety restraint.

🅿️ Paid Parking – Paid parking is in effect daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and is operated by Surfcast. Vehicles may only park in designated areas marked by signage. For more information, visit the Town’s website.

🔊 Noise Ordinance – The Town’s Noise Ordinance is in effect daily. Please be mindful of amplified sound, loud music, mufflers, and gatherings. Violations may result in fines up to $1,000.

🐾 Dogs on the Beach – Dogs are not permitted on the beach strand Memorial Day through Labor Day 9:00 am to 6:00pm. Remember, dogs must remain on a leash at all times! Leash laws are being enforced which can result up to a $50 fine.

🏖️ Beach Equipment & Sea Turtle Protection – Personal beach equipment must remain at least 10 feet from sea turtle nests and dune vegetation and must be removed daily by 7:00 p.m. Items may not be stored in the dunes. Please help us protect our natural resources by staying off the dunes.
