We seek to build partnerships with parents and other caregivers as well as like minded non profit organizations to leverage resources, time, energy and ideas to advocate as well as effect much needed change at the local and state level as well as nationally. We don't just seek to work with in the system but change it from with in as well as encourage people and parents to fight for desperately nee
ded change. The day must come when state child welfare offices have policies and the correct attitude in place to prevent the unnecessary taking of children and breakdown of families as well as well as workers who operate with a voluntary "hand up" and compassion. The day must also come when real education allows a society which can see past the propaganda to the truth, which is that the current system in place is arbitrary, uneven/unbalanced and unaccountable to the people who fund its existence through tax dollars. Our overloaded foster care system is directly fed, like a minor league farm system, with children seized from mostly poor families via county dependency courts and CPS. If we want to see effective change and reform in the foster care system, we must start with real reform of CPS, the dependency courts and the federal law CAPTA 1974.
