Family Welfare Cooperative Child Welfare Reform Association was started to help provide much needed support to parents and families experiencing the child welfare system.

We seek to build partnerships with parents and other caregivers as well as like minded non profit organizations to leverage resources, time, energy and ideas to advocate as well as effect much needed change at the local and state level as well as nationally. We don't just seek to work with in the system but change it from with in as well as encourage people and parents to fight for desperately nee

ded change. The day must come when state child welfare offices have policies and the correct attitude in place to prevent the unnecessary taking of children and breakdown of families as well as well as workers who operate with a voluntary "hand up" and compassion. The day must also come when real education allows a society which can see past the propaganda to the truth, which is that the current system in place is arbitrary, uneven/unbalanced and unaccountable to the people who fund its existence through tax dollars. Our overloaded foster care system is directly fed, like a minor league farm system, with children seized from mostly poor families via county dependency courts and CPS. If we want to see effective change and reform in the foster care system, we must start with real reform of CPS, the dependency courts and the federal law CAPTA 1974.

I wrote some lyrics to a hymn! it is to the beautiful haunting song called "Finlandia." I did not write the music. I wrote it 35 years ago, I was at the time trying to image God in my heart, not as the man with a beard throwing lightning bolts. He was the way I was sort of picturing God from the time as a child.

To be honest I did not want to relate to God as fierce, scary, reprimanding as I was taught as a child. But I never saw God that wayas a child. This gentle loving Goddess walked beside me all the time.. I wanted to commune with God as a "She" the powerful, nurturing loving Goddess, my loving Mother as she had been with me all along.

So my church choir sang The lyrics to that song last Sunday. They sang to God as She! It is called "The Stars and We." Our computer genius and brother in my heart,, Richard, posted the service. You can go to 7:36 and it is where the song begins.

I had to close the office after moving. It's not easy work for sure especially when you try to do it on your own. I still want to provide limited help when I can so I'll focus on sharing good child welfare related content and try and help individual families where I can.

That being said, I have a family in Kennewick, WA who are working to get their kiddos back. The dad just found part time work...mom is looking for work but they are facing a 14 day pay or vacate notice. They owe 750.00 plus a 50.00 late fee. That number will go down once the dad's first paycheck comes in but they need help. Reunification will happen for them but not if they become homeless.

C/o Joyce McMillian I am working with a first time mom to be who has a developmental disability. Mom was raised in foster care and little to no supports. Mom is so fearful of having her child go Ito care.She consistently says “I KNOW I CAN DO A BETTER JOB RAISING MY CHILD THAN THE GOVERNMENT CAN.” knowing her about a year I completely agree but Not without roper supports. I have already obtained a social worker and attorney for her and Iam currently working on making sure she has a home-maker assist her in parenting. Mom has very little financial resources to get started so Sinergia Inc. is throwing her a baby shower. I am asking all of my family friends to show support and help me prove the state should using TAX PAYER FUNDING to support families and not separate them. PLEASE HELP ME SHOW WHAT THIS WOULD ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE FOR A FAMILY TO REMAIN TOGETHER WITH PROPER SUPPORTS.
