All sworn officers attend 23 weeks of intensive police training at the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy in Salisbury, MD. Upon graduation, all of our officers are certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions.

Road work to impact travel on Ocean Parkway

(May 19, 2026) A contractor is scheduled to be on site today for a sinkhole repair on Ocean Parkway. The work will take place around 903 Ocean Parkway, near the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Cathell Road.

Senior Director of Public Works, Eddie Wells, said flaggers will help direct northbound traffic on Ocean Parkway, but advises drivers to avoid the area if possible or use an alternate route (Manklin Creek Road).

Important announcement about scams! We are still seeing many reports of residents here in Ocean Pines receiving phone calls, texts or emails that later turn out to have been scams. DO NOT respond to unsolicited messages or calls asking for money or your personal information. These scammers are very good at trying to appear legitimate in order to trick you and scam you out of your money. Before you respond, please check into who you may be responding to. Any resident of Ocean Pines is welcome to contact us or pop in and pay us a visit if you have questions about the legitimacy of one of these messages.

Ocean Pines Police Department Hiring Event May 30

(April 9, 2026) The Ocean Pines Police Department will host a Hiring Event on Saturday, May 30.

Testing will take place at 11107 Cathell Road in Ocean Pines, beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. Candidates should dress appropriately for the physical agility test.

The starting salary for entry-level officers is $61,000, increasing to $63,500 upon successful completion of field training. Certified lateral officers with a minimum of two years of experience may qualify for a starting salary of $67,945.

Benefits include shift differential pay, health insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid sick leave, two weeks of paid vacation, a retirement plan, and an assigned take-home vehicle.
