Ocean Shores Police Department update regarding the August 11, 2026, Rescue at Damon Point.

Ocean Shores Police Department update regarding the August 11, 2026, Rescue at Damon Point.

⚠️ DAMON POINT REMAINS CLOSED ⚠️

On August 11, Ocean Shores Police and Fire responded after three individuals became stranded near Protection Island. All three were ultimately located, with two requiring evacuation by a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter.

This incident is an important reminder that closures, barriers, and warning signs are in place for a reason. Tide conditions at Damon Point can change rapidly, cutting off access to shore and creating life-threatening conditions.

Entering a closed area places your safety and the safety of the first responders called to rescue you at risk. Please respect all posted signs, barriers, and closures. No view or adventure is worth risking a life.

Damon Point is closed to public access by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the City of Ocean Shores.
