This month in Charnley-Norwood History: On May 1st, 1910, Louis Sullivan sells his Ocean Springs winter retreat to Gustav Hottinger, owner of Northwestern Terra Cotta. In his terra cotta shops, Hottinger's company brought much of Sullivan's designs to life.

On January 3, 1891, the Chicago Times reported that an Illinois Central daily train would travel between New Orleans and Chicago in less than 29 hours. The next year, Sullivan's design for the new Illinois Central terminal in New Orleans would open. Once in New Orleans both the Charnleys and the Norwoods would only have another 3 to 4 hour trip on the Louisville & Nashville Railroad to reach Ocean Springs.
