On Monday and Tuesday, I had the wonderful opportunity to talk about fire safety with the Wanamassa School kindergarten classes and our good friends at the SearchDay Program. I also showed everyone what a firefighter looks like in full protective gear, helping them feel comfortable and understand that we’re there to help.
It is always an honor and a privilege to spend time with our community and share these important lessons!
Remember to stop by the Wanamassa Firehouse this Saturday for our annual Open House! Please bring a nonperishable food item to support our food drive. We look forward to seeing you!

During the month of October, starting Monday 10/5 and at the Open House, we’ll also be collecting 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 for a food drive benefiting the 𝐎𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝.

You can drop off non-perishable food items in the yellow newspaper box on the Sunset Avenue side by the front doors at any time.

🔥BOX ALARM🔥

10/17/2026 At approx. 02:20 Stations 35 and 86 were dispatched to Bennett Avenue for a reported residential structure fire. First arriving units were met with heavy fire conditions and a box alarm was transmitted. The fire was quickly brought under control. Companies operated on scene for approx. 8 hours. As always thank you to our mutual aid partners. The incident is still under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, Neptune City Fire Marshal’s Office and the Neptune City Police Department.

Neighbors, I am excited to announce that I am running for the position of Fire Commissioner in the upcoming general election on November 3rd.

As many of you know, I previously had the privilege of serving as your Fire Commissioner from 2016 until December 2022, when I stepped into the role of your Fire Chief. Serving as Chief has been an incredible honor, and it gave me an invaluable, ground-level view of how our current fire service operates.

Why am I running?
As the needs of our fire service and town change, we cannot rely on old solutions for modern challenges. My time as Chief showed me exactly what our department needs for the future—and what no longer works from the past. By combining my experience in administrative fiscal management (as your past commissioner) with live-action operational experience (as your chief), I offer a complete perspective to move our district forward.

My priorities will be:

· Ensuring our firefighters have modern, safe equipment and training.
· Maintaining strict fiscal responsibility and transparency for our taxpayers.
· Proactively planning for our town's rapid growth.
I ask for your support and your vote on November 3rd. Together, we can build a safer, more resilient community!

I would like to extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Chief John Keating, his family, and our brothers and sisters at the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company on the heartbreaking loss of John’s wife.

I had the opportunity to get to know John while he worked door security at Ocean Township High School. Over that time, I came to know him not only as a fellow Fire Chief and member of the fire service, but as a genuinely good person who cares deeply about his family and his community.

John, my heart goes out to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time. Please know that you are not alone. Your fire service family stands beside you, and you and your family will remain in our thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.
