‼️Gilliland Park Pool Update‼️
We understand there have been questions about the Gilliland Park Pool reconstruction. This project is funded through FEMA and involves a complex, multi-agency process that requires careful planning, approvals, and strict safety and compliance standards. Our daily work includes coordinating with FEMA, engineers, Region One representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure design accuracy, proper permits, and reliable outcomes for the pool, the pump house relocation, the baby pool drainage, and the surrounding water and sewer infrastructure. While progress may not always be visible every day, teams are actively planning, testing, and moving the project forward to meet current standards and deliver a safe, high-quality facility for the community.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these requirements. When new information is available, we will provide clear, official communications. If you have urgent safety or operational concerns, contact me Jennifer Walker-Cook instead of blasting it on Facebook or talking negatively about me because if anyone in this community wants a nice safe pool it’s me I’ve been working very hard for it and I will respond promptly with any of your questions or concerns.

‼️Public Notice: Gilliland Park Pool Closure and Exciting New Development‼️

To the residents and families of our community,
We regret to announce that the Gilliland Park Pool will be closed until further notice. This temporary closure is necessary to complete essential improvements that will enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall swimming experience for generations to come.
What’s Happening
New pool project is underway. A comprehensive surveying and planning phase has been completed, and FEMA and the engineers have finalized designs for a brand-new pool The team hired to bring this project to life will begin construction in the coming weeks.
The upgraded pool will feature modern safety standards, improved accessibility, kid-friendly areas, and a welcoming environment for families.
We understand this closure is difficult, especially during summer family plans, but it’s necessary. Your patience and support are essential as we invest in a first-rate swimming facility that will bring joy, safety, and community pride for many summers to come. We are confident that the wait will be worth the amazing outcome.

Gilliland Park Pool is closed today, Saturday, August 9, 2025. We’re genuinely sorry for the disruption. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. The pool will reopen tomorrow, Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM (local time). For the latest updates, please watch this page. Today, we will be closing early due to low attendance. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming everyone back soon!

Good news—we will be open tomorrow during our normal hours, 12 PM to 6 PM. Come out and enjoy a fun day at the pool with family and friends!

Due to overcast skies and less than ideal weather conditions, Gilliland Park Pool will be closed today. We’re taking the opportunity to perform some necessary maintenance to ensure everything is in top shape.

We’re hopeful that Sunday will bring better weather, and we plan to reopen at 1 PM. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you back at the pool soon! ☀️ 🤩
