Under the City’s new illegal fireworks ordinance, fines start at $500 and can increase up to $10,000 for repeat violations.

Property owners and party hosts may also be held responsible if illegal fireworks are knowingly allowed on their property.

Illegal fireworks can cause injuries, structure fires, and wildland fires and violators may be responsible for the cost of emergency response services.

🚫 Oceanside’s New Fireworks Ordinance 🚫

Fireworks pose serious risks to our community, including structure fires, wildland fires, injuries, and delays in emergency response.

The City of Oceanside has adopted a new ordinance that strengthens enforcement and accountability for illegal fireworks activity. Under the ordinance:

• Illegal fireworks are prohibited in Oceanside.
• Property owners, renters, and hosts may be held responsible if they knowingly allow illegal fireworks activity on their property.
• Violations may result in administrative fines starting at $1,000 and increasing for repeat offenses.
• Responsible parties may also be billed for emergency response costs associated with illegal fireworks incidents.
• Drones may be used to document violations and assist with enforcement.

This educational campaign is intended to help residents understand the ordinance, the risks associated with illegal fireworks, and the consequences of violations.

Together, we can help keep Oceanside safe for everyone.
