Rescheduling ma*****na for research was an oft-repeated promise of President Joe Biden’s campaign, along with a pledge to decriminalize the use of cannabis and grant clemency to people with federal ma*****na convictions.

But after more than one year in office, Biden’s promises remain unfulfilled — and a January YouGov poll of 1,500 people showed that more than half of Americans believe that the Biden administration has made little to no progress advancing ma*****na reform. The administration even screened staffers for ma*****na use last year, dismissing several incoming candidates because they revealed they’d used cannabis during background checks for positions in the Biden White House. Just this month, employee conduct guidelines were updated to potentially deny security clearance to people who have invested in cannabis companies. All in all, the Biden administration seems to be pretty anti-w**d.

Public opinion, states, and even the GOP have come around to the idea of legal w**d. So how hard is it to finally get done?

Officials say cannabis businesses in Grover Beach have added millions in tax revenue to the city over the last year. They say adding cannabis lounges would provide businesses with additional sales opportunities which in turn would benefit the city through additional tax revenue.

Amber Newman and I spent a year and a half telling everyone we could to vote NO on Prop 64, because it was not a viable solution for cannabis regulation, yes it was a large petition written in extensive legal language, but most people only heard the word "LEGALISE" and voted yes anyway. Now the industry is in shambles before it even got off the ground and the state is going to do nothing to help 😕 I could go on and on about what could/should have been proposed, but that horse has been dead for a few years now.

When taxes and labor are figured into crashing wholesale prices, some California cannabis is worse than worthless—it would cost farmers more money to harvest than let rot.
