This is not a movie. This is a real traffic stop in Ocoee.

As our officer explains in the video, at that speed, something as simple as hitting a rock or having a vehicle pull out of a plaza could send this car flipping, with potentially deadly consequences.

Labor Day weekend is for making memories, not making a bad decision behind the wheel.

The Ocoee Police Department is joining the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and law enforcement agencies nationwide in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, running August 19 through September 7.

If you drink, plan a safe ride home. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare, or make another transportation plan before you go out.

And if you see someone who has been drinking about to drive, step in and help them get home safely.

The good news: You can make your vehicle a lot less appealing to thieves with a few simple steps:

-Lock your car doors.
-Take your valuables with you.
-Don’t leave anything tempting in plain sight.

A quick check can change everything.

Last year 3,208 people were killed and more than 315,000 were injured in traffic crashes involving distracted drivers.

Texting and driving is distracted driving, but so are scrolling, checking notifications, and messaging behind the wheel.

No text, call, notification or post is worth a crash. Put the phone down and drive.

Sometimes, one phone call can make all the difference.

After a concerned passerby noticed a woman walking barefoot and appearing to need help, they called the Ocoee Police Department to request a wellbeing check.

Our officer located the woman, learned she had been reported missing by another law enforcement agency, and stayed with her for about 30 minutes, talking with her, keeping her calm, and making sure she was safe until her father arrived to pick her up.

If you see someone who appears to be lost, confused, or in need of assistance, don't hesitate to call. It could make all the difference.
