Oconto Falls Fire Department would like to thank Canadian National Railway Company (CN) for their contribution to our fire department. This contribution allowed our fire department to replace a number of non-compliant structural fire helmets with no costs to our residents. This contribution has greatly improved our firefighters’ health & safety and allowed our department to focus on other personal protective equipment or fire equipment to purchase or replace. Without this type of contribution or grants, our fire department wouldn’t be where we are today.

Winter Storm Warning – Prepare Now ❄️⚠️

Oconto County is expected to receive significant snowfall beginning Saturday night and continuing through Monday. The latest forecasts are now calling for over 2 feet of snow, along with winds exceeding 40 mph, which will create hazardous travel conditions, reduced visibility, and the potential for road closures.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid travel if at all possible during the storm. If you must travel, allow extra time and make sure your vehicle is equipped for winter conditions.

Several warming centers will be opening across Oconto County for those who may need them during the storm. However, due to the heavy snowfall and road conditions, access to these locations may be limited at times. If you plan to use a warming center, please call or contact the location ahead of time to confirm it is open and accessible before traveling.

We encourage everyone to review the important safety and preparedness information provided by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and Oconto County Emergency Management in the attached graphics.

Please continue to monitor weather updates, check on neighbors who may need assistance, and stay weather aware as the storm approaches.

On the night of Thursday January 22nd the Oconto Falls Fire Department conducted an ice water training exercise. This training was conducted in real life elements to simulate the environment in which we get called to duty. The temperature at the time of training was -11 without windchill. The hole was cut and our members practiced rescuing one another to simulate a rescue scenario. This training keeps us prepared to respond efficiently to an event in our city as well as the surrounding communities we serve. Remember no ice is 100% safe.
