: A dynamic weather scenario that includes fire danger and severe weather potential today through Tuesday will be present across Oklahoma. OFS has responded to 80+ new wildfires so far this weekend including a number of large fires in eastern Oklahoma. Fire departments have been very busy across the state with initial attack activity and some emerging large fires. Yes, rain chances develop today and again on Tuesday, but we are urging Oklahomans to do their part to prevent wildfires.
Limited fire danger will develop today in southwestern Oklahoma including lightning ignition potential while firefighters across eastern Oklahoma continue to actively work multiple fires that will have strengthening winds ahead of storm chances this evening. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for tomorrow in the Panhandle counties as fire-effective weather will shift into the area following rain chances today.
