GLIFWC Division of Law Enforcement The Division enforces off-reservation codes that govern treaty harvest seasons in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan's ceded territories.

Conservation wardens patrol a sprawling region encompassing more than 60,000 square miles of forest and lake country. Four-wheel drive trucks, ATV's, boats and snowmobiles serve as patrol craft for each officer. While Division administration is based at GLIFWC central offices in Odanah, Wis., officers are stationed near tribal communities across the three-state ceded territory. Fully staffed the d

ivision includes 22 officers, including a training director and youth outreach officer, a chief warden and a central office administrator. All GLIFWC wardens train extensively throughout the year and are fully certified Wisconsin law enforcement officers.

The Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission is pleased to announce available internships for its 2025 GLIFWC Internship Program. Through this internship program, college students will work with a GLIFWC mentor within various divisions and learn about necessary coursework, college degrees, and trainings which result in gainful employment in a multitude of careers including natural resources and stewardship careers with tribes. Also, interns will participate in a multitude of traditional Anishinaabe cultural events and learn about the importance of treaty reserved rights to the Anishinaabe people, and their history in preserving these rights.

Our primary jobs are to enforce natural resource laws within ceded territory in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. While Division administration is based at GLIFWC central offices in Odanah, Wisconsin, officers are stationed near tribal communities across the three-state ceded territory. Fully staffed the division includes 18 officers, including a youth outreach officer, two supervisors, a chief warden and a central office administrator. All GLIFWC wardens train extensively throughout the year and are fully certified Wisconsin law enforcement officers.
