Your Odell Firefighters were busy Tuesday Evening with multiple calls for service.
1st Call
At 1641 hrs dispatched for an accident involving 2 semis and possibly a car on I 55 SB MM 209. Upon arrival all southbound lanes were blocked by produce from one of the semis. Both semis sustained heavy damage resulting in their cargo being spilled across the interstate. One refusal and one transport. The semi that came to a rest in field had a diesel fuel leak. Leak was mitigated by fire personnel, limiting contamination to the farm field. Agencies assisting were Dwight EMS, Illinois State Police, Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies and Illinois Department of Transportation.
2nd Call
While still on the scene of 1st accident we were dispatched for a male subject who had wrecked his dirt bike at a high rate of speed. Due to the possibility major injuries, Life Flight helicopter was put on standby. Once on scene and patient was assessed, it was determined that the patient did not meet criteria for helicopter, subject was transported by ambulance to hospital.
3rd Call
At 2138 hrs dispatched an SUV vs semi with a subject with a head injury possibly entrapped in the vehicle. Upon arrival subject was out of the vehicle. Patient was assessed and signed refusal. This accident was a secondary accident from the semi accident earlier in the night. State Police and Tow Companies were still on scene clearing the interstate. Agencies assisting were Dwight EMS, Illinois State Police, Livingston County Sheriff Deputies, Dwight Police Dept, Illinois Department of Transportation.
