Our brand-new Fall Harvest Festival in October will include three days of kid-sized carnival rides!

We've had some questions about costs, so here's what you need to know: Entrance to the event (including the Odenton Day festivities on October 3) will be free, with food for sale and $2/ticket for rides. Rides will vary between 1, 2, or 3 tickets. Proceeds will benefit the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, to make up for our mostly rained-out Carnival back in May. We hope to see you there, and thank you for supporting your local volunteer fire company!

Getting hungry for fall? Here's your first look at the menu for our brand new, three-day Odenton Fall Harvest Festival! While the kids enjoy their carnival rides, you can try an Apple Harvest funnel cake, or maybe a hot coffee or cider. And don't forget to stop by on Saturday, October 3 to enjoy all the Odenton Day festivities, including our OVFC Open House.

We were just as disappointed as you were that our OVFC Carnival was so rainy back in May, so we decided to bring back the rides and the funnel cakes this October for a brand-new event: the Odenton Fall Harvest Festival!

On October 2-4, we'll have carnival rides for the kids plus a full menu of fall festival food for sale, all benefitting the OVFC. At the center of it all will be Odenton Day on Saturday, October 3, our community's annual tradition featuring:
- Exhibits by local businesses and community groups,
- Odenton Heritage Society tours,
- Plus our own OVFC Open House, where you can learn how to keep your family and community safe in emergencies, and get a peek inside your community-funded firehouse

Our members take our monthly company firehouse meetings seriously, but it's not all business. Last night's August OVFC company meeting ended with our annual traditional crab feast, an opportunity for the OVFC to show its appreciation for our members' hard work throughout the hot summer months. If you'd like to join our team, go to ovfc28.org/join to learn more about the requirements and the application process. You don't even have to like crabs (more for the rest of us)!

At the recent Maryland State Firefighters Association convention in Ocean City, OVFC member Lily Bridges received the annual John E. "Sunny" Rose, Jr. Memorial Award for most training hours in 2025. We're always happy to see this trophy return to the OVFC, as Sunny was one of our own members and we're still deeply proud of the example he set for instructors and firefighters throughout the state of Maryland. Congrats to Lily, who couldn't make it to Ocean City but was able to accept the trophy at our firehouse this week.

OVFC members Ethan Goldberg, Toni Sanger, and Craig Harman were also recognized at the convention for their nominations for Rookie of the Year, EMS Person of the Year, and the Marbery F. Gates Service Cup Award.
