Today, our Honor Guard had the solemn privilege of rendering final honors for an Unaccompanied Veteran, Edward Thomas Feely Jr. United States Navy.

An “Unaccompanied Veteran” means that no family or friends were present to stand with him at his funeral.

But as we believe deeply, no Veteran should ever be laid to rest alone. Our Honor Guard along with others, stood in his place of family, paying tribute to his life, his service, and his sacrifice for this nation.

It is our duty and our honor to ensure that every Veteran, whether surrounded by loved ones or not, receives the respect and dignity they deserve.

Today, Edward Thomas Feely Jr. was not forgotten, and he will never be forgotten.🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Flag Raising 🇺🇸

Our Memorial Day begins with a solemn yet powerful tradition led by our Honor Guard.. the raising of the American flag.

Why do we raise the flag on a day meant for mourning?

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At sunrise, our Honor Guard raises the flag briskly to full-staff, but only for a moment. Then it is slowly lowered to half-staff, where it remains until noon.

This symbolizes a nation in mourning, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

At noon, the flag is raised once again to full-staff, signifying our commitment to uphold the values for which they fought and died, and to carry their legacy forward with pride and purpose.

This powerful tradition reflects our mission at VFW Post 4372 to remember, honor, and serve.

We don’t just raise a flag.. we raise awareness, pride, and gratitude for those who gave everything for our freedoms.

We are proud of our Honor Guard for carrying out this sacred duty each year.
