The Board of Aldermen approved changes to the City’s electric rate structure following completion of the City’s electric cost-of-service study by Allgeier, Martin and Associates.

Customers will begin seeing the updated rates reflected on their September electric bills.

The updated rate structure is intended to improve the long-term financial sustainability of the electric utility while ensuring electric rates remain fair, equitable, and reflective of the cost to provide service.

Residential customers will move to block rates, providing more predictability and greater control over monthly electric costs based on usage. Commercial and Industrial customers will be classified based on usage and load factor.

The current Energy Cost Adjustment will be replaced with a Purchased Power Adjustment designed to more accurately reflect wholesale power costs. Customers can expect to see a significant reduction in the adjustment under the new structure.

🚌 Students head back to school tomorrow! 🎒

Please remember to slow down, stay alert, and watch for school buses and children near roadways. Effective Aug. 28, SB 1421 sets harsher penalties for illegally passing a school bus when its lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.

Yellow flashing lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children. Drivers should slow down and prepare to stop their vehicle.

Red flashing lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. Drivers must stop their vehicle before they reach the bus and wait until the lights stop flashing, the extended stop arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving (or the bus driver signals to proceed) before they can start driving again.

Let's make getting to and from school safe for everyone. Stop. Stay. Keep our bulldogs safe. 🐾♥️🖤
