Although our bond issue-did not pass, we want to sincerely thank everyone that took the time to vote and everyone that supported OFRPD throughout this process.

We are incredibly grateful for your encouragement, your questions, and your commitment to safety of our community. While this wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, our mission remains the same. We will continue to provide the highest level of fire, rescue & EMS services with the resources available.

📢 Bond Question & Answer Meeting – Join the Conversation

The Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District invites all community members to attend a Bond Question & Answer Meeting on Wednesday, July 22, at 7:00 PM at the Odessa Fire Station, 301 W. Dryden.

This meeting is an opportunity to learn more about the upcoming bond proposal, ask questions, and hear directly from the district about how the bond would help replace aging fire apparatus and emergency response equipment that have exceeded their recommended service life.

The Board of Directors will also be conducting a workshop during the meeting for Community input on potential development needs & services.

We encourage everyone to attend, get the facts, and be part of the conversation. An informed community makes informed decisions.

What Will the Proposed Bond Cost the Average Property Owner?

We've received many questions about the cost of the proposed bond, so here's a simple breakdown.

🏡 Average Home Value: $257,000

The average home's assessed value is $48,830. Missouri property taxes are based on assessed value, not market value.

With the proposed $0.20 levy increase, the cost would be:

✅ $97.66 per year
✅ $8.14 per month
✅ About 27¢ per day

🌾 Agricultural Property Example

For a farm valued at $1,000,000, agricultural property is assessed at 12%, resulting in an assessed value of $120,000.

The proposed increase would be:

✅ $240 per year
✅ $20 per month
✅ About 67¢ per day
