Summer is coming. The library is ready for our summer reading challenge, ‘Unearth a Story’ and we want to kick-it off with a fun time. Library staff is ready to get you registered for the challenge while we offer a T-Rex Bounce House, a Foam Party – be warned, it may stain clothes, face painting, sno-cones, and our community partners who will offer their own activities for you to enjoy.

📚 New Book Club Announcement: “Read Between the Crimes” 🔎
The Ector County Library is excited to announce a brand-new book club for lovers of mystery, murder, and all things Texas—“Read Between the Crimes.”
This club will focus on books that are either true crime or mystery novels set right here in Texas, bringing together readers who enjoy unraveling secrets, following clues, and diving into gripping stories rooted in the Lone Star State.
We’re currently looking for interested participants to help shape the club! If you’d like to join, please reach out to us to share:
Your availability for meeting days and times
How often you’d like to meet
Input on how many books we should plan to order
Your feedback will help us build a book club that works for everyone.
Our first selection will be the whodunit novel The Best Little Motel in Texas: A Novel by Lyla Lane—a perfect kickoff full of intrigue and Texas flair.
If you’re ready to read, discuss, and solve some crimes (from the comfort of a good book), we’d love to hear from you!
📩 Contact the Ector County Library's Southwest History Department at 432-653-1794 or [email protected] to get involved and help us get started.
Let’s read between the lines… and between the crimes.
