Traffic Advisory

OPD would like to remind the public that roads are expected to remain slick today. Please use extreme caution if you must travel at 22nd & West County Road, 87th & Andrews Highway, 26th & Beaty, and 9th & Kelley Avenue. Remember the following if you do travel:

Reduce your speed and maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front that will allow enough time to stop your vehicle in case of an emergency. Drive with your headlights on and use extra caution when traveling on overpasses and underpasses. If you must travel, please allow plenty of time to travel to and from your destination.

Avoid using cruise control and ease off the gas pedal or brakes if you start to skid. Also, some of the intersections have no functioning lights so please remember to treat intersections with flashing lights the same as a 4-way stop sign.

2026 Click It or Ticket Campaign

The Click It or Ticket Campaign runs now through Sunday, May 31st. The Odessa Police Department is joining forces with TXDOT, the Texas Department of Public Safety and other law enforcement agencies throughout Texas to increase seat belt use in anticipation of the busy summer driving season that starts Memorial Day Weekend.

The statewide initiative aims to reduce serious injuries and fatalities resulting from crashes involving unrestrained occupants. State law requires everyone in a vehicle to buckle up or face a fine. Additionally, children younger than 8 years old must be secured in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they’re taller than 4 feet 9 inches.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 965 people died in crashes last year across Texas who weren’t wearing a seat belt. Wearing a seat belt can significantly reduce the risk of dying in a car crash. Let’s do our part and buckle up every time! It’s a simple action that could save your life!
