Were you affected by the August 11 severe storm? Help is available!

The Porter County Emergency Management Agency, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, is bringing multiple local, state, and federal agencies together in one convenient location to help residents and businesses affected by storm damage.

The Town of Ogden Dunes, Indiana has three (3) elected official positions on the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 general election ballot to serve 2027-2030:
• Town Clerk-Treasurer,
• Town Council At-Large, and
• Town Council Ward 3 (South)

One (1) candidate, for each available position, has filed with the Porter County Elections & Registration.

⚠️ 7:00 pm UPDATE: ⚠️
Due to weather and lakeshore conditions the Fireworks viewing as been moved to Ogden Dunes Kratz Field, area of 80 Hillcrest Road. ⚠️

The Ogden Dunes community Independence Day fireworks display on the Ogden Dunes Beach is planned to begin shortly after 9:00 pm tonight, Sunday, July 5th, 2026.

The pyrotechnics team will set-up between access #12 and #13 later this afternoon.

Starting at 7:45 pm the beach between west of access #11 and east of access #14 will be CLOSED, crossing this area will be denied as the safety exclusion area. Beach goers should plan accordingly. Please cooperate with pyrotechnics team, Ogden Dunes Police Department, and Ogden Dunes Fire Department personnel.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE collection this Saturday, June 20 at Chesterton High School

Recycle Porter County is hosting its next Household Hazardous Waste collection event from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m this Saturday, June 20, at Chesterton High School, 2125 S. 11th St.

Participants are asked to enter from 11th Street.

Porter County residents are encouraged to safely dispose of products containing corrosive, toxic, ignitable or reactive substances. Common household hazardous waste items include anti-freeze, motor oil, batteries (household annd automotive), fluorescent bulbs, deck stains, pool chemicals, pesticides, and household smoke detectors.

Folks may also drop off medical sharps, including diabetic needles, blood lancets, insulin pens, epi-pens, syringes, expired over-the-counter medicines, and non-narcotic prescriptions.

Items NOT accepted at this event: Electronics, LATEX PAINTS, grill propane cylinders, and large containers over 55 gallons in size.

JUST A REMINDER: Household Hazardous Waste collection events are open to any Porter County households only, not businesses.
