Here’s a quick recap of what went down at our latest school board meeting! From celebrating a century of Warrior pride to keeping our campuses safe, here are the major highlights:
🎂 Weber High Turns 100!
Weber High Principal Ryan Kachold kicked things off with big news as the district’s flagship high school celebrates its 100th anniversary this year!
📈 WHS Academic Wins: 71% of juniors scored an 18+ on the ACT (the best performance since 2016!), sophomore math proficiency jumped to 45%, and low-income students hit a near-100% pass rate on AP exams!
🏆 State First: Weber High became the first and only high school in Utah to achieve Level 2 High Reliability Schools certification for effective teaching.
🏺 Centennial Celebrations: Look forward to a homecoming museum, a digital yearbook archive partnership with Weber State, and a commemorative brick fundraiser for front-entrance improvements!
🛡️ Prioritizing School Safety
The board officially approved a renewed 5-year agreement to maintain 16 School Resource Officers (SROs) across district secondary schools.
Snow Crest Junior High will be upgrading from a part-time officer to a full-time SRO to ensure consistent coverage and safety for students and staff.
📋 Policy & District Updates
Graduation Requirements (Policy 4370): Advanced on first reading to update secondary credit requirements, clarify grade appeal workflows, and support credit recovery options.
Student Clubs (Policy 4540): Reviewed statutory updates regarding non-curricular student organizations to ensure equal access and alignment with state law.
Budget Accounting: The monthly budget report was briefly paused to allow for accurate end-of-fiscal-year reconciliations before the next reporting period.
🙌 Huge thanks to our incredible teachers, school leaders, and community partners for making Weber School District a fantastic place for students to thrive.
