*FOR SUPPORTERS IN 93023 & 93022*
Community, we encourage you to support the CABIN VILLAGE Project & Location (already initially approved by Ojai City Council last August)
Friends of Cabin Village invites everyone in the Ojai area (especially in 93023 & 93022) to sign the new petition, which already has 170+ online signatures: https://www.change.org/p/support-ojai-public-works-yard-as-site-for-the-cabin-village-5c338f82-479a-4876-9a38-349008f16fa1
Here are the words of a close neighbor of Ojai Tent Town, in support of Cabin Village Public Works Yard, excerpted from current edition of the Ojai Valley News:
I am a friend of the Cabin Village Project. ... ALL 30 (not just 20) of the vetted and established seniors and vulnerable of Ojai Tent Town will have the ability to have a heated, secure room within walking distance of downtown services and HELP of Ojai.
Cabin Village is a residential development for a residential neighborhood, surrounded and screened by native vegetation. Kathy Nolan's firm has been contracted to landscape the grounds and privacy wall with native plants. It will be beautiful in an Ojai style.
Equally important is that the developer, DignityMoves, is being held to high sustainability eco-standards of design, systems, and materials. We will soon see architectural drawings.
.. I know we have some very good neighbors. Yet, I am saddened that a group of property owners - blocks away, who will not see Cabin Village from their properties - are using their power to try to "relocate" the project, saying this residential project doesn't belong anywhere near them.
Let's be clear. There is no relocating to be had. This is the time, this is the place. The state of California is watching. It wants us to succeed and serve as a template for other small municipalities.
The state gave us $12.7 million to do this.
We have the money, the site, the developer, the support team, and a community who needs us to build something tasteful and safe, that can be a Point of Pride for Ojai.
Let's Do It ! (Dulanie La Barre, Ojai)
