🌟Our very own Central Elementary School featured on WPTV! Great job, Coach Spearow and students.

Students at Central Elementary School in Okeechobee are participating in the revived Presidential Physical Fitness Test after President Donald Trump signed an executive order to reestablish it in schools.

Okeechobee County Schools is pleased to report that recent water testing at school sites found no elevated lead levels of concern. Testing was conducted following a recommendation from the Okeechobee Utility Authority for all structures, including residential and commercial facilities, serviced by OUA that were built before 2014.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families, students, and staff, as testing was completed. The safety and well-being of our students and staff will always remain our highest priority.

Okeechobee County Schools is aware of the recent notification from the Okeechobee Utility Authority regarding potentially elevated lead levels in drinking water. Following consultation with OUA, the District understands that the concern primarily affects structures built before 2014.

Out of an abundance of caution, the District has directed affected sites to discontinue the use of drinking water and has provided bottled water. Testing for lead will be conducted today. If elevated lead levels are detected at any District site, the parents and employees affected will be notified directly.
