Check out our future RN's, CNA's, LPN's, PCT's, doctors, x-ray technicians, radiologists, cardiologists, surgeons and many other future employment opportunities in the healthcare industry.

It all starts with Mrs. Hornung's Health Science Anatomy and Physiology course at Okeechobee High School. Here Mrs. Hornung is utilizing the Anatomage table to show students how food is processed by the body.

This is an amazing 3D tool that takes the book images of years past and turns them into realistic videos.

After students complete year one, they are then able to the take the 2nd and 3rd courses in the Nursing Assistant program with Mrs. Lacey Mecham. Students are currently learning the proper procedures for using the gait belt, which is part of their skills exam.

In the spring the upper level students will have the opportunity to earn their CNA license and possibly the Certified Patient Care Technician certification.

The Nursing Program continues to flourish with invaluable support from HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital, the Okeechobee Health Care Facility, and the Education Foundation of Okeechobee.

Students in the Outboard Marine program at Okeechobee High School have been busy putting new skills to work.

We are excited to have the program up and running and Instructor Toby Doyle has been working diligently with the students to prepare them for a career as an Outboard Marine Technician. ⚓

Did you know that Motorboat Mechanics and Service Technicians are in demand in every region across the state and that Marine Engineers and Naval Architects is a High Skill High Wage career in demand in every region across the state.

We look forward in the near future, similar to our Brahman Auto Shop, for students and others to be able to bring in their personal vessels for diagnosis and repair.

Our CTE programs are built to meet the demand of the workforce!

The Brahman Auto Shop at Okeechobee High School is in full swing as upper level students are starting to work on vehicles.

Students are preparing to conduct a full vehicle inspection, checking all fluids, tires, and accessory components.

Other students are preparing to perform a five tire rotation for a staff member vehicle.

Students in the Automotive program have the opportunity to earn ASE entry level industry certifications and complete classroom hours and shop hours.

Okeechobee County Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs give students the opportunity to explore careers, gain hands-on experience, earn industry certifications, develop employability skills, and connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities.

From agriculture and automotive technology to health science, business, digital design, and many more career pathways, CTE helps students discover their passions and build the skills needed for college, careers, and beyond.

This year, we look forward to helping students explore their interests, discover their potential, and prepare for their future!

The Career and Technical Education department welcomed three new teachers this past week at new teacher orientation.

Mr. Joseph "Toby" Doyle will be taking over as the instructor for the Outboard Marine Services Technology program. Mr. Doyle has numerous years of technician experience and is eager to lead this program.

Ms. Lacey Mecham travels from out of state and will be the new Nursing Assistant instructor. She brings tremendous enthusiasm with her to continue the path of this very successful program.

Mr. James Sharpe returns to Okeechobee as the Agriculture instructor at Yearling Middle School. A former OHS graduate that went through the Ag department as a middle and high school student, he looks forward to continuing to work with students and build their interest in pursuing careers in the Agriculture industry.

We welcome them all and look forward to a great 2026-2027 school year.

Junior Leaders students were able to visit multiple locations in Okeechobee today.

The visit to the Okeechobee Airport provided an opportunity to hear from staff about their job duties and the many different businesses and occupations that are currently in operation at the Okeechobee Airport.
