Meridian Township A Prime Community Centrally located, Meridian Township has nestled within its borders two healthy and active communities; Haslett and Okemos.

A smaller portion of East Lansing and Williamston are also within our border. Lying along the eastern border of East Lansing, we are in close proximity to the Michigan State Capitol and Michigan State University. Meridian Township welcomes visitors from surrounding areas to its vibrant business districts, over 906 acres of parks and natural areas and to the largest lake within 25 miles of the State Capitol, Lake Lansing. ⚠️ Hulett Road Lane Closure (10/19-10/20) ⚠️

Weather-dependent, the Township's contractor will pave the second and final layer of asphalt on Hulett Road on Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20.

The road will be paved half-width at a time. On the paving dates, Hulett Road will be closed to northbound traffic. Southbound traffic will be maintained on the side of the road that is not currently being paved.

School bus routes will not have to be altered. Motorists should expect delays when traveling southbound on Hulett Road on October 19-20.

The Township continues to coordinate with CSX Railroad regarding paving within the railroad right-of-way (ROW). At this time, work within the railroad ROW is pending CSX scheduling staff to monitor the railroad crossing during paving operations, in accordance with state and federal laws. Therefore, paving operations on 10/19 and 10/20 will conclude approximately 100 feet short on both sides of the railroad crossing.

The Township will complete the remaining paving work adjacent to the CSX railroad crossing as soon as the necessary railroad coordination and safety requirements are in place. We appreciate residents' patience and understanding as we work to finalize this portion of the project.

Election Drop Box Locations 📮

With the November 3 General Election coming up, it is important to know where you can drop off your absentee ballot!

Meridian Township offers four drop box locations for residents:

• Meridian Township Municipal Building (Outside) | 5151 Marsh Road, Okemos
• Meridian Township Municipal Building (Inside) | 5151 Marsh Road, Okemos
• Haslett Library (Outside Front Entry) | 1590 Franklin Street, Haslett
• Okemos Library (Outside Front Entry) | 4321 Okemos Road, Okemos

Each box is secured to the ground and includes 24/7 video surveillance. All four drop boxes close at 8:00 pm on Election Day.

Registered voters may request an absentee ballot by mail, online, or in person within the applicable deadlines.

Annually, we recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day.

This day honors the history and contributions of our region's indigenous people to the world we experience while recognizing the challenges they face.

Next to Meridian Township's Municipal Building, community members can find the Nokomis Learning Center.

This center preserves the history of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi) people and educates the public through exhibits, programs, and events.

The center (5153 Marsh Road, Okemos) is open Thursdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm & Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

All donations will go toward food-only gift cards for those in need this holiday season. Donations of $500 or more will be featured on the Meridian Cares webpage and Facebook.

Meridian Township Police Department Statement - Suspicious Package at the Meridian Mall

On October 7, 2026 at approximately 9:45 am, the Meridian Township Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package located near an exterior entrance on the east side of the Meridian Mall.

Out of an abundance of caution, the area was promptly cleared of civilians while the investigation was conducted. The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene to assist, and after a comprehensive assessment, authorities confirmed that the package posed no hazard to the public.

Operations at the Meridian Mall resumed as normal at approximately 11:45 am.

The Meridian Township Police were assisted by the Meridian Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.

The mall is now open, and business has resumed as normal.

The Meridian Township Police Department is investigating a suspicious package found near the Meridian Mall.

Goat Browsing Demonstration Event! 🐐🌿

Join the Meridian Conservation Corps (MCC) to learn about an invasive species management technique using goats on Saturday, October 17, from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm!

Jared Harmon from the Mid-Michigan Land Conservancy will bring goats to Towar Woods Preserve (2948 Margate Lane, Haslett) to demonstrate how they can browse invasive plants that affect biodiversity in natural areas.

Voter Registration Information! 🗳️

Any qualified Meridian Township resident who is not already registered to vote can do so at our Clerk’s Office, the Ingham County Clerk’s Office, or online at mi.gov/vote.

Register to vote at the Meridian Township Clerk’s Office from Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, inside the Meridian Township Municipal Building (5151 Marsh Road, Okemos).

The Clerk’s Office will also be open on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Monday, October 19, is the last day residents can register online or by mail to be eligible to vote in the November 3 General Election.

Beginning Tuesday, October 20, all voter registration must be done in person at the Meridian Township Clerk’s Office with proof of residency.

Water service has been restored. Thank you for your patience!

⚠️Water Main Break Repair Notice (10/6, 8:30 am) ⚠️

A water main break has occurred on Heritage Avenue near the Bennett Road intersection.

To complete the repair, water has been temporarily shut off to several buildings within Club Meridian Apartments, highlighted in red on the map. The outage is expected to last approximately 3-6 hours while repairs are made.

There is NO boil water advisory in place at this time.

We appreciate your patience as our crews work to restore service as quickly as possible. We will post updates here once repairs are complete.
