The overwhelming support through your comments and text messages reminded us why we do this.

We won’t let one person’s behavior ruin something good for the whole community. We’re planning another giveaway before Christmas! 🎄🎁

Our boundaries still stand, and kindness and respect will always be expected. Thank you for pouring back into us. Stay tuned for details! 💙

I know I may lose followers over this, but being a nonprofit does not mean we owe anyone unlimited access to our time, resources, or energy.

We do giveaways because we love our community and recognize the need. We don’t even get paid for the giveaways! We put a lot into making them happen, and we deserve to be treated with respect.

We’re here to serve, but we will not tolerate disrespect or entitlement. 💙

To our community, I’m sorry to announce that I will no longer be hosting community giveaways.

After dealing with hostility and entitlement, I have to set a boundary. I put too much time, energy, and personal resources into serving this community to accept being mistreated.

It’s disappointing that one person’s behavior has led to this decision, especially when so many of you have been kind and appreciative. Please know that your gratitude has never gone unnoticed. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and treated us with respect. 💙

What started with one old public bus, donated books and a woman determined to help children imagine a different future?

Meet Charmaghz—Afghanistan’s first colorful mobile library! 🚌📚🇦🇫

On a snowy Valentine’s Day in 2018, Afghan children’s-rights activist Freshta Karim launched the first Charmaghz Mobile Library in Kabul.

Growing up, Freshta didn’t have access to the storybooks and libraries she wanted so she returned to Afghanistan with a dream of creating that opportunity for other children.

An old public bus was transformed into a bright blue library filled with books in Dari and Pashto.

When the bus stopped in a neighborhood, children climbed aboard to read, listen to stories, watch educational videos, participate in creative workshops and, most importantly, ask questions.

Freshta didn’t simply want children to memorize information.

She wanted them to think critically, recognize their potential and imagine a different future for Afghanistan.

That single blue bus eventually grew into a network of 17 mobile libraries, including buses and vans, that welcomed more than 1.1 million visits from children across Kabul.

More than half of those young visitors were girls.

After seven years, operational challenges forced the mobile libraries to close in 2025. But Charmaghz’s mission continues through a new program focused on creating online educational opportunities for Afghan girls.
