With the birds safely relocated, work on the Westminster Bridge over Coffee Creek at 66th Street will begin September 8, 2026.

Please plan ahead and expect the road to remain closed throughout construction. We appreciate your patience as we make these needed improvements!

🔥 BURN BAN EXTENDED 🔥

Due to continued dry conditions and elevated wildfire risk, the Oklahoma County Burn Ban has been extended for an additional two weeks and will remain in effect through September 4, 2026, at 12:01 a.m.

🚫 No outdoor burning, including:
• Campfires
• Brush piles
• Trash burning
• Fireworks
• Outdoor cooking

Please help protect our communities, homes, and first responders by following the burn ban and avoiding activities that could spark a wildfire.

⚠️ COUNTY-WIDE BURN BAN IN EFFECT ⚠️

Effective immediately through August 21, 2026, a county-wide burn ban has been issued due to extreme heat, dry conditions, and an increased risk of wildfires.

During the burn ban, residents are prohibited from outdoor burning. Even a single spark can quickly ignite a dangerous wildfire under current conditions.

We encourage everyone to:
🔥 Avoid all outdoor burning.
🚭 Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials.
🚗 Keep vehicles off dry grass.
🎆 Do not use fireworks or other open-flame devices.

🚧 Great news! 🚧

We are thrilled to announce that the Meridian Avenue & Edmond Road roundabout will officially reopen tomorrow! 🎉

Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding throughout construction. Your cooperation has helped us improve this intersection, making it safer and more efficient for everyone who travels through the area.

We look forward to welcoming drivers back tomorrow. Please continue to use caution as you navigate the new roundabout and watch for any remaining work crews in the area.

🚧 Project Update: Meridian & 178th (Edmond Road) Roundabout 🚧

Great news! The tin horns have been replaced, and the road is now ready for paving.

While recent storms caused a slight delay in the project, we’re excited to keep things moving forward.

✅ The roundabout reopened today to traffic and will remain open until Monday, July 6, when it will temporarily close again so crews can complete the paving.

🛣️ If all goes as planned, the roundabout is expected to reopen on Tuesday, July 7.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we complete these improvements. Thank you for bearing with us—we’re looking forward to delivering a smoother, safer intersection for everyone!

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE 🚧
Beginning June 15, Westminster Road just north of Route 66 will be closed for approximately six months due to a bridge replacement project.
Message boards will be placed in the area today to help notify motorists of the upcoming closure and encourage drivers to begin planning alternate routes.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed to enhance roadway safety and infrastructure in the area.

This morning at the Board of County Commissioners meeting we officially launched the Oklahoma County Longevity Program! We were proud to recognize and celebrate employees with 5 to 35 years of dedicated service to Oklahoma County.
