🌬️ Strong Cold Front Bringing High Winds & Fire Danger
A mixed bag of weather factors is headed our way this weekend. A strong cold front will move into Oklahoma early Sunday morning, bringing very strong winds, increased wildfire risk, and a much colder start to Monday.
The front is expected to enter from the northwest around sunrise Sunday and move across the state, reaching southeast Oklahoma by early afternoon.
⚠️ Wind Impacts
• Sustained north-northwest winds of 30–40 mph
• Possible gusts from 45–60 mph
• Areas east of I-35 and south of I-40 may see slightly lower gusts
🌫️ Additional Concerns
• Blowing dust may reduce visibility in some areas
• High-profile vehicles could have difficulty traveling
• Power outages are possible due to strong winds
🔥 Fire Weather
Very strong winds combined with dry conditions will create extremely hazardous wildfire conditions. Please avoid outdoor burning or activities that could spark a fire.
⚠️ A HIGH WIND WARNING is currently in effect for the western half of Oklahoma and western north Texas.
