Interested in Women in Ag?✨
We wanted to share the article below from American Farm Bureau Federation, as we feel it really highlights what we are already doing in a few areas of this industry.
Here’s how NWIAA's work maps directly to what the study found:
● 9 out of 10 women want to lead — NWIAA builds that pipeline. The study found nearly 90% of women are interested in leadership roles. NWIAA exists specifically to develop and place women in those roles, from chapter leadership to state director positions to national advocacy.
● 45% want mentorship — NWIAA is structured around it. Peer networks and mentorship are core to how NWIAA operates. That's not a program add-on. That's the model.
● 45% want policy and civic engagement training — NWIAA does legislative outreach. The study flagged this as a major gap. NWIAA's state director structure puts women directly in front of legislators and in advocacy spaces. That's the training ground.
● Wellbeing and community support — NWIAA builds the community. The study identified overall wellbeing as a support gap. Women who feel connected to a network of peers report better outcomes. Chapter development is how NWIAA delivers that at the local level.
● The framing shift: Instead of leading with what NWIAA is, lead with what women in ag are facing and then position NWIAA as the answer. Something like:
● "Women in agriculture are ready to lead. They just need the network, the training, and the community to do it. That's exactly what NWIAA was built for."
