It was an honor to host the Leadership Bixby team and the Bixby Chamber at the Capitol.

Bixby continues to thrive because of leaders like this who work every day to support small businesses, strengthen our community, and advocate for the future of Bixby.

I was also glad to see my good friend Courtney Brown, manager of Harps Foods, at the Capitol as well. Courtney and so many others are making a real difference in our community.

Thank you to Leadership Bixby and the Bixby Chamber for everything you do to make Bixby such a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Grateful to stand on the Capitol steps this week and take part in the Bible Reading Marathon, where God’s Word is read nonstop from Genesis to Revelation.

Also honored to be recognized as a Defender of Biblical Business principles.

Our state needs leadership rooted in truth, integrity, and conviction. When those are absent, it’s clear. I’ll continue to stand for those values in how I serve Oklahoma.

So proud to honor the Bixby High School Football team on the Senate floor today. These boys have won the State Championship the last 8 consecutive years and 11 out of the last 12 years. These seniors have played in a championship game every year since Kindergarten.

They were also recognized as the 2025 Academic State Champions in 6A-1. An incredible 74 players earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, with another 24 players between 3.0 and 3.5. That kind of success doesn’t happen by accident. The coaching staff is top class and a big reason these young men continue to succeed both on the field and in the classroom.

Enjoyed spending some time at the Oklahoma Youth Expo Legislative Showmanship Event helping Bixby FFA member Brock Brown show his heifer, “Sassy.”

She kept head-butting me the whole time because she wanted to play. Had a great time and always enjoy seeing the hard work these kids put in.

Big Win for Bixby Traffic Flow!

I received confirmation today from the Oklahoma Turnpike Director that wide load restrictions have been lifted on the Creek Turnpike.

That means the only wide loads you should now see coming through Bixby are those that actually have Bixby as their destination or specifically requested this route.

For years, I’ve questioned why oversized loads were being routed off the Creek Turnpike, down Memorial Dr (Hwy 64), then across 151st St (Hwy 67), only to get back on Highway 75 and head south. It made no sense, especially with the congestion we already deal with every day.

We learned the issue was the width of the old toll booths on the turnpike. Those booths are no longer in use, and the restriction has now been removed.

This is a big deal for our district.

Fewer unnecessary oversized loads moving through town means smoother traffic flow, safer commutes, and less wear and tear on Memorial and 151st. These heavy loads put significant stress on pavement, so keeping through traffic on the turnpike helps protect our local infrastructure.

Sometimes progress isn’t flashy. But you never know if there is a better solution until you ask the question and follow it through.

Thank you to ODOT Director Tim Gatz and OTA Director Joe Echelle for working with us to get this resolved.

Proud to keep working for Bixby and fighting for common sense improvements like this.

I was honored to welcome constituents from Paddington Place Cottages in Bixby to the Capitol yesterday!

Paddington Place serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, and it was great to hear more about their services and the ways they support individuals in reaching their highest level of independence. I’m grateful to the residents and staff who stopped by my office to visit and share about the important work they’re doing in our community.

For 13 years, I’ve worked to see this bridge become a reality. We’ve come close a few times, but the need has only grown stronger.

Today, I’m continuing that same fight, just from a different seat at the table.

It’s encouraging to have strong partners at the federal, state, and local levels all pulling in the same direction. When we work together, we can get big things done.

We are closer than ever, and I’m committed to seeing this project across the finish line.

It was a pleasure visiting with the Liberty and Bixby FFA chapters during their trip to the state Capitol for FFA Day. These outstanding students are the future leaders of Oklahoma agriculture, and it was inspiring to hear their perspectives on the industry and the opportunities ahead.

Thank you to the students and advisors for taking the time to visit and engage with lawmakers!
