Walk A Mile In My Shoes

Walk A Mile In My Shoes A 1-mile family-oriented walk to promote AWARENESS and community RESPONSE for Foster Care, Adoption, Orphans in Oklahoma

The purpose of Walk A Mile In My Shoes is to promote AWARENESS and RESPONSE by all followers of Christ to the crisis faced by Oklahoma’s 9,000+ Foster Children due to the shortage of good foster homes and lack of community involvement. Walk A Mile In My Shoes hosts an annual foster care awareness event - a 1 mile family-oriented walk held in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Participants are asked to bring

a suitcase to pull or carry during the walk - symbolic of the many moves Foster Children endure due to the shortage of foster homes. After the walk the suitcases may be donated to Oklahoma’s Foster Children, who often have only a trash bag to use for their personal belongings. Organizations that serve foster children and familie are present to provide information on ways the community can get involved through praying, volunteering, or becoming a foster or adoptive family. This event is free, and open to everyone. Participation is free, but registration is required. To register please visit the Walk a Mile in My Shoes website at www.walkamilefostercareevent.com.

The need for more loving foster parents in Oklahoma and every other state is urgent. If God is speaking to you about becoming a foster parent, don't let fear or uncertainty keep you from stepping into the ministry He is calling you to. Being a foster parent is not easy, but it will have ETERNAL impact if you ask God to use you to help a hurting child.
