A MESSAGE FROM THE AFSCME GO CAMPAIGN

On Wednesday, March 19, AFSCME and our partners from across the labor movement will join together for a Protect Medicaid Day of Action while elected officials are home for recess. Our goal is to drive as many calls as possible to Congress to tell them to support Medicaid, NOT tax cuts for billionaires.

We will be hosting a series of tele-town halls for AFSCME members and retirees to hear from President Lee Saunders and others about the potential impacts of Medicaid cuts. The retiree tele-town hall will be at 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 19. There will be three working member tele-town halls at 4:00 p.m. Eastern, Central and Pacific times and 5:00 p.m. for Mountain time. Attendees will be connected to their members of Congress’ in-district office directly from the call.

Please encourage your members to call their member of Congress throughout the day by using the click-to-call noted on the link below or by dialing 1 (202) 684-2466. This is an all-hands-on-deck effort, and we’ve created a toolkit with materials you can use to call your members to action.

Click here to view the affiliate toolkit and download key materials.

In the toolkit you will find:

Protect Medicaid Day of Action messaging.
A link to the click to call action.
Links to sign up for tele-town halls for your time zone (Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific).
Sample email invitation to the tele-town hall.
Downloadable graphics for social media.
A two-pager explaining why Medicaid matters.
A Day of Action print flyer for worksites and events.

Let’s show Congress that we are watching how they vote.

We have also created a toolkit specifically for our AFSCME partners that includes a special call-in number for them. We encourage you to share this with your in-state allies, so we can flood the lines to demand no cuts to Medicaid.
