Areawide Aging Agency is requesting applications for the following services: Health Promotions in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county; Legal Assistance and Education in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county; Congregate and home delivered meals, nutritional counseling, and nutritional education in Oklahoma, Canadian, and Logan county; Homemaker services in Oklahoma, Canadian, and Logan county; Supportive Services for Low Vision in Oklahoma, Canadian, Cleveland, and Logan county.
Applications are due by 4:00 pm, March 3rd, 2026. For further inquiries, contact [email protected].
Application packets will be available February 3rd at 8:00 am and will end February 19th, 2026, at 5:00 pm. Pick up is at 4101 Perimeter Center Drive, Suite 310, OKC, OK 73112, or available via email ([email protected]).
Applicants must attend the Proposer Conference (in-person) at Areawide on February 20th, at 9:30 am to be considered for funding.

Join us for SAIL (Staying Active and Independent for Life) - a fun, evidence-based fitness program designed to help older adults: build strength, improve balance, and stay active and independent!

This program is made possible through a grant from the Areawide Aging Agency and the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City.

🎄✨ Christmas Cheer at Areawide ✨🎄
The holiday spirit is in full swing at Areawide! From our festive door decorating contest and fun-filled Ugly Sweater Day to celebrating together at our Christmas luncheon at VAST, our office has been overflowing with joy, laughter, and teamwork.

🍂 As the Days Get Shorter, Your Mood Might Too… Let’s Talk About SAD 💛

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more than just the “winter blues.”
It’s a form of depression that affects many older adults as daylight decreases and it’s important to recognize the signs early.

Common Symptoms:
• Low energy or fatigue
• Sadness or irritability
• Trouble concentrating
• Sleep changes
• Loss of interest in activities you enjoy

🌞 Helpful Tips to Boost Your Mood:
• Get outside during daylight hours
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Stay connected with friends and family
• Try light therapy or talk with your doctor about treatment options

💜 November is National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month 💜

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan declared November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month a time to honor those affected, support caregivers, and raise understanding about this challenging condition.

This month, we pause to:

🤝 Support caregivers
🔬 Promote research
💜 Raise awareness

The Alzheimer’s Association also recognizes
June as Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month because support is needed all year long.

Please join us in welcoming our new CEO 🤝
Jim Hopper comes to the Area Wide Aging Agency as CEO, having served most recently as CEO of the Jesus House, a small non-profit in Oklahoma City with a vision for feeding the homeless each day and helping men and women obtain hope by recovering and maintaining their sobriety, working toward gainful employment, and stable housing. Prior to the Jesus House, Jim served as President of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association for eighteen years. Throughout his career in association management and non-profit work, Jim has had the opportunity to help small businesses survive and become successful through advocacy, providing help and services to association members, and by working to help those in need of a helping hand to reconnect with friends and family at the Jesus House.
Jim brings a wealth of experience in helping others and is excited to begin this work at the Area Wide Aging Agency to advocate for older Americans who need help with services that will allow them to maintain their independence and stay in their homes as long as possible.
