A fun field trip! 🐾💙

Our Village Animal Welfare pups recently visited Okie Paws, where they were tested for heartworms before receiving their ProHeart® 12 injections, generously donated by the incredible Okie Paws team!

With negative heartworm tests and their injections complete, these pups now have 12 months of heartworm prevention as they wait for their forever homes. 🏡

We are SO grateful to Okie Paws for investing in the health and future of the animals in our care. It truly takes a village!

🎉 REAGAN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🎉

Someone pinch us because our sweet girl Reagan is officially OFF THE MARKET! 🥹🐾💕

From dreaming of her very own backyard and kiddie pool to finding a family of her own… Reagan’s biggest wish has come true!

She waited patiently, charmed everyone she met, and now she gets to trade her shelter kennel for a forever home, forever family, and a whole lot of love.

We’re going to miss that adorable face, but we couldn’t be happier for this girl!
Happy tails, Reagan! You hit the jackpot!

💔 A little bump in the road for our girl Shayna…

We recently received some unexpected news: Shayna has tested positive for heartworms.

While this means she has some treatment ahead of her, we’re incredibly grateful that a couple of amazing donors stepped up to cover the cost of her heartworm treatment.

Now Shayna needs one more thing from her village: a foster home.

Heartworm treatment requires strict crate rest and a calm, quiet environment while she recovers. We’re hoping to find someone who can open their home to Shayna for a couple of months and give her a peaceful place to rest, heal, and be spoiled while she gets through treatment.

She doesn’t need much — just a comfy spot to sleep, some love and patience, and someone willing to help her through this chapter.

He will be on a 72 hour stay hold as of this posting. Proof of ownership through vet records and an updated rabies vaccine are required before release.

🐾❤️ **Happy National Dog Day!** ❤️🐾

Today is all about celebrating the dogs who make our lives better simply by being in them. From the goofy wiggles and zoomies to the quiet cuddles and those sweet eyes that seem to say *“I love you”* — dogs have a special way of making every day brighter.

Here at The Village Animal Welfare, we’re especially grateful for every dog who has crossed our doors. Some are still waiting for their forever families, while others have already found their happily ever after. No matter where their journey takes them, every dog deserves to feel safe, loved, and cherished.

So today, give your dog an extra treat, a belly rub, a long walk, or simply an extra “I love you.” If you’re looking for a way to celebrate National Dog Day, consider giving a shelter dog the greatest gift of all — a chance at a forever home.
